Location: Jersey City, NJ

Multiple Positions Available:

1. Collaborate with external customers and partners to develop and
deliver proof-of-concept projects, technical workshops, and implementation projects focused on database migration, administration, and data warehousing architecture for high-volume OLTP environments and large-scale database deployments.
2. Utilize AWS services including Amazon EC2, 53, RDS, Aurora,
Redshift, IAM, Database Migration Services (DMS), and AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) to understand customer requirements, propose packaged offerings, and deliver custom solution engagements.
3. Analyze on-premises transactional database environments such as
Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and other commercial database engines to evaluate and plan migrations to AWS managed database services including RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and Redshift.
4. Employ customer-facing skills to represent AWS within customer
environments and drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, standard methodologies, project management, and risk mitigation strategies.
5. Design and implement optimal AWS database architectures and
configurations, including backup and recovery solutions, disaster recovery strategies, and performance optimization for complex distributed production deployments.
6. Provide strategic guidance regarding business, product, and technical
challenges in enterprise environments, developing innovative solutions to complex business and technology problems.
7. Work closely with AWS RDS, Aurora, and Redshift teams to ensure
the success of consulting engagements, making recommendations to optimize database performance and scalability.
8. Assist customers in migrating database environments to AWS Cloud
through re-host, re-platform, and re-factor strategies.
9. Lead database team migrations, mentor team members, and define technical and project strategies while documenting best practices for cloud-based services and platforms.
10. Consult and provide analytical insights on product improvement, feature innovation, and reference configurations based on scalability, performance, availability, and cost optimization
principles.
11. Up to 30% domestic travel

Basic Qualifications

A Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field and five years of experience in database administration or data architecting. In the alternative, a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field followed by seven years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or in a Professional Services III-related occupation.
Must have experience in the following:
Five years of experience building and administering transactional database infrastructure, including capacity planning and sizing, configuring high availability systems, implementing backup and recovery procedures, securing database environments, and designing and deploying database solutions.
Five years of experience building and maintaining developer and customer relations involving software and database technologies, such as Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, and open-source database technologies.
Five years of experience, monitoring database systems, optimizing database performance, managing database upgrades and configuring disaster recovery solutions for databases.
Three years of managing and administering databases on Oracle gird infrastructure environments and Exadata environments, Datawarehouse technologies.
One year of experience working with migration tools, specifically Database Migration Service (DMS) and Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) and designing database architectures in cloud environments.

The pay range for this position in Jersey City is $189,592 - $207,800 (yr); however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Pay Transparency Regulation of Jersey City Municipal Code. Base pay information is based on market location.
