Amazon is seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Engineer to design, build, and launch novel robotics hardware. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanism design, prototyping, and integration of robotic subsystems, and must have the ability to work well both independently and in a multidisciplinary team setting.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and detail mechanical components and assemblies for robotic hand, forearm, and actuator systems using CAD (SolidWorks or equivalent)
- Generate engineering drawings, BOMs, and assembly documentation to support prototype builds
- Support prototype fabrication, assembly, and integration of multi-DOF robotic mechanisms
- Perform tolerance analysis, material selection, and basic structural/thermal calculations to inform design decisions
- Collaborate with electrical, firmware, and controls engineers to ensure mechanical designs meet system-level requirements
- Conduct hands-on testing, failure analysis, and design iteration based on test results
- Maintain clear engineering documentation (design reports, test procedures, change logs)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
