You’ll solve complex engineering problems, improve the update experience for customers worldwide, and help shape the future of Windows servicing
As a Software Engineer II on the Update platform team your responsibilities will include designing and implementing new features to support customer requirements as well as continuously improving the quality and reliability of the update stack client code responsible for installation and lifecycle of updates to the operating system. As part of the Windows Servicing and Delivery (WSD) team you will be part of a fast-paced, world-class team that keeps billions of customers secure and current every day.

Responsibilities
- Work with other teams across WSD and Windows to design and build features that enable the most efficient and seamless way to update their components to bring to market the latest in innovation including ML/AI models, Applications and security updates.
- Design, test and develop these features based on internal and external customer requirements leveraging a fast-paced quarterly planning cycle.
- Collaborate, innovate and build the next set of internal processes and tools to support fast yet reliable shipping of new code to our validation rings and retail customers.
- Address security vulnerabilities and at the same time build resilient architecture for your components in today's ever increasing security focused landscape.
- Monitor monthly retail releases to Windows and diagnose/mitigate/resolve issues expeditiously when they happen.
- Mentor early-in-career developers and interns that join the team.
- Work closely with other software engineers and architects on the team and partner teams around the globe in an inclusive and collaborative environment.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
