Role Summary
This role drives quality and engineering readiness for new products, modules, and components, including battery, camera, thermal, and other subsystems for iPhones and other Apple products. The role partners with design, supply chain, OEM, and supplier teams from early design through mass production to support specification, reliability, scalability, and factory readiness.
What You'll Do
- Review product designs and specifications, provide Design for Manufacturing feedback, and conduct tolerance analysis, FEA, and FMEA.
- Assess fabrication and assembly strategies, create risk assessments and mitigation plans, and recommend solutions to execution challenges.
- Plan and lead Design of Experiments to inform design and supply chain decisions.
- Collaborate with suppliers on flow mapping, FMEA, equipment and metrology plans, and implementation schedules.
- Establish quality control, inspection, and metrology stations on production lines with design, engineering, and safety teams.
- Support product development builds, drive quality issues to closure, and present RCCA findings to Executive leadership as needed.

Description
Drive quality and engineering readiness for new products, modules and components, including critical modules such as Battery (Li-ion and other chemistries), Camera, Thermal and other subsystems - for iPhones & other Apple products, from early design through mass production. Partner with design, supply chain, and OEM/supplier teams to ensure new products meet specification, reliability, and scalability targets.
Responsibilities
Review new product designs and specifications, providing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback; conduct tolerance analysis, FEA, and FMEA to identify design risks and recommend corrective changes
Assess fabrication and assembly strategies for new material or component designs; create risk assessments and mitigation plans, identifying execution challenges and recommending solutions
Plan and lead Design of Experiments (DoEs) to inform design and supply chain decisions
Collaborate with suppliers to develop flow mapping, FMEA, equipment/metrology plans, and implementation schedules prior to engineering builds
Work with design, engineering, and safety teams to establish quality control, inspection, and metrology stations on production lines
Support new product development builds, driving quality issues to timely closure and presenting RCCA findings to Executive leadership as needed
Plan and run validation trials to demonstrate feasibility for high-volume production; assess supplier readiness for build activities and mass production
Develop and execute component/module reliability testing plans during NPI and mass production
Drive quality and readiness at the factory for development builds and mass production; prepare OK-to-Ship documentation for new product launches
Manage IQC, IPQC, OQC, and ORT programs for injection molding, stamping, and other components; establish quality control plans jointly with vendors
Conduct periodic reviews of field and factory quality data with OEM and supplier partners, refining specifications and process capability based on production data
Drive production improvements, including robotics and automation, to reduce labor costs and maximize quality
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or the development of consumer electronics
Experience in metrology, standard manufacturing quality control practices, and process/manufacturing engineering fundamentals
Experience with any of the following: mechanical enclosures, castings, plastic parts, injection molding, tooling, jigs, fixtures, or high-volume quality/manufacturing engineering (e.g., Automotive, Consumer Electronics, Medical Devices, etc.)
International travel to supplier sites, up to 25%.

The base pay range for this role is between $163,500 and $246,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
