Overview

 

In MCAPS (Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions) Finance we are looking for a strategic and analytical Group Finance Manager to partner across engineering, operations and finance. This role is pivotal in enabling Microsoft to make data-driven decisions by enhancing governance, prioritization, and visibility into resource allocation and investment across the Engineering, Enablement and Operations (EEO) org portfolio. You will play a key role in helping senior leadership understand how engineering resources are deployed, how investment decisions are made, and how to optimize for maximum business impact.

 

This is a high-impact role that requires a systems thinker who can demonstrate intellectual curiosity, strong storytelling capabilities, navigate ambiguity and the ability to influence across engineering, operations and finance teams. You will be instrumental in shaping how Microsoft governs its investments and ensures alignment with strategic priorities.

Responsibilities

Lead financial planning, forecasting, target setting, and consolidation activities, ensuring alignment across finance stakeholders and business cost owners. 

•Drive close, forecast, budget reporting, variance analysis, and executive-ready financial storytelling, delivering clear insights, risks, opportunities, and recommendations to leadership.

•Own consolidated headcount governance, workforce planning and people cost modeling to support business decision-making and planning accuracy.

•Serve as the primary liaison between EEO Office, EEO Finance controllers and MCAPS Central P&L teams, coordinating financial processes, reporting requirements, and cross-functional planning activities.

•Lead resource allocation, investment prioritization, and ROI analysis, helping business leaders evaluate tradeoffs and optimize investments across people and non-people spend.

•Manage complex organizational and structural financial changes, including SEC/ESA cleanups, cost alignment initiatives, reorganizations, transfers, and financial governance activities that improve cost transparency and planning integrity.

•Champion process improvement and AI-enabled finance solutions, developing scalable models, reporting tools, and insights that improve speed, accuracy and decision support.



Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

•Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field

•OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field

•OR equivalent experience.

•2+ years experience partnering with business/functional leaders.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

•Proven data and financial modeling capabilities, scenario analysis and ability to work with financial systems.

•Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with ability to distill complex data into simple and executive-ready insights.

•Self-starter, ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines, exhibit attention to detail, quickly prioritize for impact and the resourcefulness to deliver data driven insights.

•Interpersonal and cross group collaboration skills, including the ability to comfortably communicate and influence management.

•Ability to influence and impact without authority, operate in ambiguity, and solve difficult problems, combined with the ability to prioritize and function well in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

•High-level of integrity, self-confidence, and demonstrated change management; Lead in a diverse and inclusive culture.



Financial Analysis IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.
