Summary
Embark on a new route in your career! Offering a host of innovative features and rich data, Apple Maps powers experiences across Apple's product line. Join the MapKit Quality Engineering team to help deliver the revolutionary Apple Maps experience — reliably and at scale — to apps and websites reaching millions of users every day. This role oversees the scaling of automation testing across MapKit SDK on iOS, MacOS, WatchOS, Android and JS platforms, including a growing focus on Android automation, SDK/API validation, and CI reliability.
Description
If you enjoy building quality into developer-facing products and leading testing strategy across a fast-moving, cross-functional organization, this role is for you. The MapKit QE team is responsible for the quality of our public APIs and SDKs — including MapKit SDK for Apple native platforms, Android, and MapKit JS — as well as the automation frameworks and tools powering our developer ecosystem. You will lead a team of quality engineers who partner closely with development, product, and design throughout the full feature lifecycle: from early design review and test planning, through automation framework development, execution, triage, and release sign-off — all the way to features shipping at Apple's Developer Conference.
The ideal candidate combines technical depth in test engineering, SDK/API automation, and people management, with a passion for shipping high-quality developer experiences. In addition to leading a QE team, you should be comfortable driving test strategy for complex, multi-platform SDKs, championing automation and continuous testing best practices, and coaching engineers to grow in their careers.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
* Manage a team of Quality Engineers covering MapKit SDK on Native, Android and MapKit JS across multiple timezones
* Define and drive overall test strategy — coverage, automation frameworks, CI/CD, and release quality gates — for public SDKs and APIs used by clients such as Find My, Weather, DuckDuckGo, and third-party developers
* Guide the design and development of automation frameworks and tools to validate MapKit SDK, APIs, and sample/test applications across platforms (iOS, Android, and Web)
* Partner with Engineering and Product Management to review feature and API designs early, identify risk areas, and ensure testability is built in from the start
* Drive best practices in automation, continuous testing, and testability across the development lifecycle
* Lead bug triage, root-cause analysis, and go/no-go release decisions across MapKit deliverables
* Oversee test result aggregation, analysis, and reporting to surface trends, gaps, and quality risks
* Represent QE in cross-functional discussions, including at key milestones
* Recruit, mentor, and develop quality engineers, helping them grow their technical and leadership skills

Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to independently diagnose and triage complex issues
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to guide teams through ambiguous and complex technical challenges
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to explain complex problems clearly and succinctly
Passion to collaborate and iterate on ideas in a cross-functional team
