Key job responsibilities
• Serve as primary legal advisor on the health and safety portfolio, covering regulatory bodies including the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other state and federal regulators.
• Manage regulatory inquiries, investigations, and enforcement matters; coordinate responses to agency requests and lead engagement strategy with regulators (e.g., FDA, CPSC inquiries).
• Lead legal response on imminent hazards and enforcement-driven escalations, driving timely cross-functional response.
• Partner with compliance, public policy, product, and operations teams to translate regulatory requirements into scalable compliance solutions and mechanisms.
• Partner with Legal, business, and tech teams to design AI tools and automation to drive safety and compliance solutions at scale.
A day in the life
This role puts you at the center of Amazon's product safety and compliance strategy. On a given day, you might assess a proposed FDA rule's impact on the business, advise on an urgent hazard escalation demanding rapid cross-functional action, shape AI-powered compliance tooling, or huddle with compliance specialists to discuss new and emerging risks. You will engage directly with federal and state regulators, building trusted relationships, representing Amazon in high-stakes conversations, and helping position the company as a leader in proactive safety and compliance.
About the team
Our Regulatory Intelligence, Safety, & Compliance (RISC) Legal team works to make Amazon's Store safe for customers, empower selling partners with clear compliance standards, and help the business navigate complex regulatory frameworks. We partner across legal, policy, and business teams to drive product safety and compliance outcomes at scale.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of legal experience- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience in Regulatory Law

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
