Summary

The iPhone Division is seeking a talented Power & Charging Systems Engineer to join a top-notch engineering team developing next-generation iPhone products. This individual contributor role covers power management subsystems and wired/wireless charging solutions — from circuit and IC definition through thermal management and charging policy.
You will work closely with Apple's internal hardware/software teams, contract manufacturer teams, and IC vendor teams across all stages of development. We expect familiarity with portable, low-power consumer electronics and a commitment to delivering high-quality, high-volume products.

Description

As a power and charging systems engineer, you are expected to bridge analog circuit design and system-level architecture. This requires a solid understanding of power conversion topologies (switching regulators, linear regulators, switched capacitors), charging systems (wired and wireless), battery management, and high-efficiency DC-DC converters. You should also be comfortable addressing system-level challenges including power sequencing, interference mitigation, PCB layout optimization, thermal management, and digital interface design.

Responsibilities

Plan system and subsystem power and charging architecture, including IO trees and charging policies (wired and wireless)
Distill system requirements into IC definitions and write specifications; draft and review IC datasheets
Conduct IC design reviews and manage bug tracking throughout the full design cycle
Drive and participate in system-level discussions on power management, charging, and battery management
Participate in IP development, schematic, and layout reviews
Lead or assist in prototype bring-up and lab debugging
Perform bench verification of functional and parametric characteristics, including automation scripting
Conduct signal characterization across power and charging domains
Provide production test support, manufacturing support, and field issue resolution

Minimum Qualifications

BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
3+ years of industry experience
Strong EE fundamentals: power converters, op-amps, filters, ADCs/DACs, output drivers
Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscope, power analyzer, digital meter, etc.) and circuit prototyping and debugging
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following areas: switching mode power supply, linear power supply, PMIC, system power architecture, wired/wireless charging, high-efficiency DC-DC converters, battery management (charger, gas gauge, BMU), camera flash/laser drivers
Experience prototyping, bringing up, validating, and debugging circuits and products in the lab
Experience collaborating across hardware, software, mechanical, and thermal engineering disciplines
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive complex tasks to completion
Effective presentation skills and comfort working with IC vendors and contract manufacturers
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
