Original job description

Content provided by the employer

Amazon Canada's Hardlines team is hiring an Associate Vendor Manager to own a category P&L — driving revenue, profitability, and customer experience for strategic vendors. This is a general management role where you operate as the business owner for your category cohort, making data-driven decisions that directly impact millions of Canadian customers.

You will lead vendor negotiations, build joint business plans, and execute growth strategies across selection, pricing, and marketing — leveraging generative AI tools daily to move faster and scale your impact. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with Pricing, Inventory, Operations, Marketing, and Finance to deliver results.

We're looking for someone who combines commercial instinct with analytical rigor and AI fluency — a self-starter who takes end-to-end ownership, dives deep into data, and experiments with new tools and approaches to solve problems others haven't yet defined.

Key job responsibilities
You will own the P&L for your category cohort — accountable for revenue, margin, and the inputs that drive both. You will develop and execute 6-12 month category plans that balance topline growth with sustainable profitability, monitoring performance daily and taking corrective action without waiting to be asked.

You will manage end-to-end vendor relationships for strategic brands — from negotiation and contracting to joint business planning and performance management. You will lead negotiations (with coaching support) to secure best-in-class terms on cost, funding, and selection, building collaborative partnerships that drive mutual growth.

You will conduct deep-dive analysis on pricing, selection gaps, traffic, and conversion to inform strategy and investment decisions. You will leverage generative AI tools daily to accelerate analysis, automate reporting, and surface insights — and you are expected to build and share AI-assisted workflows that improve team efficiency.

You will drive commitments from Inventory, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to execute your category plan. You will coordinate product launches, promotions, and selection expansion across multiple teams, communicating performance, risks, and opportunities to leadership through written narratives and data-backed recommendations.

A day in the life
No two days look the same, but you always operate as the owner of your category P&L. You might use AI-assisted analysis to flag a margin anomaly, then pivot to preparing a data-backed negotiation strategy with a key vendor. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with Inventory, Marketing, and operations to solve in-stock challenges or launch a promotion. You'll share an AI workflow you built that saves your team hours of manual work. The constant: you own the outcomes and move fast to deliver them.

About the team
Our team has a strong culture of hard working individuals that value flexibility, ownership, a curiosity for AI applications, and ability to create our own priorities. Success is driven by an ability to operate independently, while sharing learnings, wins, and misses across the team.
