Job Description: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Life Safety Systems (LSS) Engineer to join our team in a critical role responsible for the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our Life Safety Systems infrastructure. In this position, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our facility by managing and maintaining a comprehensive suite of safety systems while serving as a key technical resource across multiple engineering disciplines.

What You Will Do

As an LSS Engineer, you will take ownership of the full lifecycle management of our Life Safety Systems, including:

  • Managing system capacity, reliability, and uptime to ensure uninterrupted protection of personnel, equipment, and facilities

  • Providing both sustaining and construction support across a broad range of critical safety systems, including:

    • Fire & Evacuation Systems

    • Early Warning Smoke Detection

    • Liquid Leak Detection

    • Tool Annunciation Systems (TAS)

    • Hazardous Production Material (HPM) Alarm & Detection Systems

  • Programming and troubleshooting PLCs for HPM and TAS systems, including comprehensive I/O point management

  • Maintaining accurate and thorough documentation required for the safe operation of all LSS systems

  • Implementing, tracking, and managing continuous improvement projects to enhance system performance and safety standards

  • Serving as a safety role model at all times, upholding and promoting best practices across the organization

  • Providing off-shift work and on-call coverage as operational needs require

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction while also contributing effectively as part of a larger, cross-functional team

  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey both strategic and tactical concepts to a diverse audience — from engineering peers and operational technicians to senior management.

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • US Citizenship

  • Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in one of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering, Systems and Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • 3+ years of practical application of controls system engineering principles

  • 3+ years of applied knowledge of Life Safety System engineering, including familiarity with relevant building codes and regulatory requirements such as National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards — encompassing principles, techniques, procedures, and troubleshooting methodologies

  • 3+ years of applied knowledge of Instrument and Control (IC) and Life Safety Systems or Building Monitoring Systems (BMS) design techniques, tools, and principles, including the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models

  • 3+ years of hands-on programming experience with:

    • Siemens PLCs

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of practical experience with scripting languages, high-level computer programming languages, servers, operating systems, databases, and networking

  • Experience in designing instrumentation for life safety systems

  • 5+ years of hands-on programming experience with:

    • Allen Bradley PLCs

    • Rockwell Automation RSView

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $89,010.00-170,630.00 USD
