Role Overview

The Head of Technical Accounting and Reporting will own technical accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls in a dynamic, multi-product SaaS environment. This role is highly cross-functional, partnering closely with the Product, Sales, Legal, Partnerships, Revenue Accounting, Corporate Accounting and StratFin teams to ensure that new products, pricing structures, and commercial arrangements are accounted for accurately and in accordance with U.S. GAAP and, where applicable, IFRS. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving business, can bring structure and scalability to accounting operations, and can help lay the groundwork for future public-company readiness.

What You'll Do

Technical Accounting

  • Serve as the company's subject matter expert on complex accounting matters, researching and documenting positions in accordance with U.S. GAAP and, where applicable, IFRS.

  • Prepare clear, well-reasoned technical accounting memos on significant and non-routine transactions, including business combinations, equity and stock-based compensation, leases, and revenue arrangements.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Product, Sales, Legal, and Partnerships, to assess the accounting implications of new partnerships, products, pricing structures, and other arrangements, and work with the Corporate and Revenue accounting teams to operationalize the accounting, and systematization of the accounting, for new agreements.

  • Monitor, assess, and implement new accounting standards and pronouncements, communicating the impact to senior management and other stakeholders.

  • Partner with external auditors and external technical accounting consultants to support the timely resolution of technical accounting questions and audit inquiries.

  • Evaluate the accounting impact of differences between U.S. GAAP and IFRS relevant to the company’s operations, including any dual-reporting, statutory, or foreign-subsidiary reporting requirements.

  • Own the company’s accounting policies and design and implementation of related controls including leases, stock-based compensation, business combinations, and revenue recognition (standalone selling price methodology, allocation of transaction price across performance obligations, and the timing and pattern of revenue recognition).

  • Assess material complex and non-standard contracts, including custom terms, usage-based pricing, and partner/reseller arrangements, and partner with the Revenue Accounting team to operationalize technical conclusions.

Financial Reporting and Controls

  • Own the preparation and review of internal and external financial statements, including footnote disclosures, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and, where applicable, IFRS.

  • Design, implement, and maintain a scalable internal control environment, including documentation of key processes and controls, in preparation for future public-company readiness and SOX compliance.

  • Lead technical accounting and reporting workstreams in support of IPO readiness, including preparation of registration statement disclosures, coordination with underwriters and auditors, and remediation of legacy accounting positions.

  • Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, driving improvements in accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.

  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, ensuring consistent application across the organization.

  • Prepare reporting and analysis for senior leadership, the board, investors, and lenders as needed.

What You Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA required.

  • 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a combination of public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and industry experience.

  • Deep, current expertise in U.S. GAAP (including ASC 606 revenue recognition), with working knowledge of IFRS.

  • Prior experience in a SaaS, technology, or other high-growth environment strongly preferred.

  • Experience with technical accounting research and the preparation of technical memos on complex, non-routine transactions.

  • Working knowledge of internal controls and SOX, with experience supporting IPO readiness or public-company reporting a strong plus.

  • Strong understanding of technical accounting across areas such as business combinations, equity and stock-based compensation, leases, and revenue recognition.

Key Competencies

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex technical matters into clear, actionable guidance.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable partnering with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

  • A hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mindset, with the ability to balance technical rigor against the practical needs of a fast-moving business.

  • Proven ability to build scalable processes and controls in an evolving environment.

  • High degree of ownership, integrity, and attention to detail.

Compensation

$224,000 - $336,000 USD
