At Linear, we're building the product development system for teams and agents. AI is fundamentally changing how software gets built, and we’re shaping the tools this new era requires.
Founded in 2019, Linear has become the platform of choice for more than 40,000 companies (including OpenAI, Coinbase, and Ramp) to plan, build, and ship their products. Today, our team is distributed across North America and Europe, and we’re continuing to grow internationally. What unites us is relentless focus, fast execution, and a deep care for software craftsmanship.
We're looking for a Recruiting & HR Operations Specialist to join the People & Talent team. You'll own the operational infrastructure behind how we find, interview, and onboard talent, and work closely with our recruiters, hiring managers, and People team. This role sits at the intersection of recruiting operations and HR coordination, and it's the right fit for someone who notices what's broken, knows how to fix it, and wants to build something durable.
Location & work mode
Linear is a remote-first company, with optional co-working offices in San Francisco, New York, and London. This role is open to candidates based in North America — EST or CST preferred for timezone alignment with our Europe-based team. We value deep focus and async collaboration, with intentional moments to connect in person through team off-sites, optional co-working, and occasional travel.
What you'll do
Recruiting Operations
Own recruiting coordination for a high volume of open roles and create a consistent, well-run hiring experience for candidates, interviewers, and hiring managers
Be the operational heartbeat of the candidate experience — scheduling, work trial coordination, and offer logistics are often the ones candidates remember most
Own our recruiting tech stack: keep our ATS (Ashby) clean and well-configured (templates, sequences, stages, reporting) and manage vendor administration
Support the offer process: send offers, manage approval coordination, and shepherd candidates through logistics to their start date
Continuously look for ways to automate and streamline: use AI and modern tooling to move faster without sacrificing candidate experience
HR & People Operations
Design and own the onboarding experience at Linear: build an onboarding journey that's thoughtful, well-coordinated across teams, scaleable, and leaves every new hire feeling set up for success from offer acceptance through their first few months
Maintain people systems and data accuracy across our HRIS and ATS
Coordinate employee lifecycle events including onboarding, transfers, and location changes
Identify opportunities to make People Operations more efficient: automate the repeatable, improve the manual, and build systems that scale with the team
What we’re looking for
4+ years of experience in recruiting operations, HR coordination, or people operations at a fast-moving tech company
Experience supporting employee onboarding and people programs, not just recruiting processes
Proven ability to juggle multiple open roles and competing priorities without dropping details or letting candidates go cold
Hands-on experience with an ATS (Ashby a plus) and HRIS systems; you know how to get data in clean and keep it that way
Genuinely excited about using AI tools and automation to make your work and the candidate experience better
Experience scaling or improving HR systems and processes, not just running them as-is
Clear, warm communicator: you're the kind of person candidates remember positively even when they don't get the role
High ownership mentality: you notice what's broken and fix it without waiting to be asked
Familiarity with tools like Notion, Slack, and Linear
