About Vercel:

Vercel is the agentic infrastructure company. We free people and agents to ship what’s next.

For more than a decade, Vercel has shaped how the web is built. As the team behind Next.js, v0, and AI SDK, we create products that help builders move from idea to production with speed, security, and exceptional developer experience.

Now, software is entering a new era, and the next generation of products will not just be used by people. They will be built, extended, and operated by agents.

We are building the platform for that future, trusted by companies like OpenAI, PayPal, Ramp, Supreme, and millions of developers worldwide. Whether you’re building our products, supporting our customers, growing our community, or shaping our story, you’ll help define what comes next.

About the Role:

This role owns external product storytelling across Vercel: the Agent Stack, Core Platform, and tools like v0, Vercel Agent, and Vercel Plugin. You'll translate ships into narratives that land with developers, press, and the market. You'll also oversee communications for Vercel's open source portfolio, including Next.js, Nitro, Nuxt Labs, shadcn/ui, Svelte,  Better Auth, Turbopack, and our investments in the Python ecosystem.

You'll work closely with communications leadership, Product, DX Engineering, and Content Engineering to make sure product work is introduced and explained with the right context, to the right audience, at the right moment.

You will report to the Head of Communications and will be located in our SF office with in-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.

What You Will Do:

  • Product Launch Strategy: Own external comms for product announcements and updates across the Agent Stack (AI SDK, AI Gateway, Workflow, Sandbox, Connect, Chat SDK, eve) and Core Platform (Security, CDN, Fluid Compute, Observability, CI/CD), as well as v0, Vercel Agent, Vercel Plugin, and Domains — driving awareness, consideration, and thought leadership for each.
  • OSS Portfolio Oversight: Oversee communications for Vercel's open source frameworks, with a concentration on Next.js, tailoring your approach to the maturity and audience of each project and keeping a voice that feels native to developer communities rather than corporate marketing.
  • Narrative & Positioning: Build thought leadership narratives around how Vercel's products fit together — and where they sit in the broader infrastructure and framework landscape.
  • Owned & Social Content: Develop owned content, social content, and campaigns in partnership with Content Engineering that engages both commercial and developer audiences.
  • Community Support: Stay close to the pulse of the open source community and proactively look for opportunities to support it, whether that's amplifying a contributor, responding to a moment, or spotting a story before it breaks.
  • Community Programming: Partner with DX Engineering's community team on programming, conference participation, and activations that put Vercel's product and OSS work in front of the right audiences.
  • Executive & Maintainer Thought Leadership: Build the public thought leadership profiles of Vercel's product and engineering leadership, and elevate the stories of the open source maintainers behind key projects.

About You:

  • 6-8 years of experience in communications, PR, or product marketing, with direct exposure to developer tools, infrastructure, or technical products.
  • Strong writer and storyteller who can translate technical work — product or open source — into narratives that resonate with developers and the market, without oversimplifying or overselling.
  • Comfortable working directly with engineers, PMs, and technical leadership, and skilled at pulling a story out of people who don't think of themselves as storytellers.
  • Experience managing multo-channel, cross-functional programs, with an instinct for what performs with developer audiences.
  • Familiarity with the frontend/JavaScript ecosystem (Next.js, frameworks, runtimes, and adjacent tooling) is a strong plus.
  • Self-directed and comfortable owning a program end-to-end in a fast-moving environment with a lot of surface area.

Bonus If You:

  • Have genuine fluency in open source culture — you understand what motivates maintainers and contributors, and know the difference between a community that feels engaged and one that feels marketed to.
  • Have contributed to or been active in an open source community yourself, as a maintainer, contributor, or engaged participant.
  • Have interest in and proficiency with using agents in your workflow.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation package, including equity.
  • Inclusive Healthcare Package.
  • Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills.
  • Flexible Time Off.
  • We will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed.

The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $152,000 - $209,000. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location. Compensation outside of San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location. The total compensation package may include benefits, equity-based compensation, and eligibility for a company bonus or variable pay program depending on the role. Your recruiter can share more details during the hiring process.
