About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Our mission is to enable effective financial decisions through reliable data, increased efficiency, and automation. We support Marketing, Sales, Seller, Accounting, Tax, Finance and Strategy (F&S), Finance Operations (FinOps), and Treasury functions across automation, data insights, and process improvements.

You may work on a wide variety of critical business areas including

Seller Systems — Responsible for building the systems and tooling that make sellers and internal revenue teams at Stripe dramatically more productive and effective. We partner with Sales, Finance, Legal, and Product to deliver a single "plane of glass" selling experience that spans deal creation and modeling, negotiation and approvals, contracting, onboarding, and activation. The Seller Systems team composes first‑party, custom Stripe components with best‑in‑class third‑party business systems to deliver configurable, auditable, and globally scalable workflows. Engineers on Seller Systems build services, APIs, integrations, data pipelines, and internal UIs that power seller productivity, reduce time‑to‑activation, improve deal velocity, and enable AI‑driven assistive workflows. Use cases include deal modeling and pricing engines, approval and orchestration platforms, CLM/CPQ integrations, onboarding automation, seller analytics, and AI‑assisted seller tooling.

Finance Engineering — Responsible for building the robust and scalable infrastructure that powers the company's core financial operations, including payments processing, fund settlement, accounting, and business intelligence. The Finance Engineering team is at the core of Stripe to empower business-critical financial domains including Accounting, Finance operations, Finance and Strategy, and Treasury. Engineers on the Financial Engineering team build platforms, data pipelines, and financial products for the Finance team. The use cases include financial analytics and insights, accounting automation, auditing, financial planning and forecasting, and financial business intelligence.

Marketing and Sales Systems — Responsible for building the most measurable, cross-channel messaging capability possible, to attract and engage customers. We do this through scalable motions, with the most relevant messaging and increasing reach of our marketing motions. We are a cross-functional team of engineers, analysts, marketers, and product managers that deliver the insights, internal systems and tools that fuel growth at Stripe.

As part of the Marketing Systems team, you own systems that power go-to-market motions productizing gathered insights and intelligence. This includes building tools that 1/ power better digital experiences, 2/ accelerate customer journey with intelligent orchestrations, 3/ drive smarter decisions with CDP, and 4/ improve marketer and seller productivity.

What you'll do

We're looking for Software Engineers who want to make an impact on managing money at a global scale with a passion for building ergonomic APIs. You'll play a key role in extending our balance management platform and in building out a new funds accessibility platform leveraged by enterprises and SMBs alike. Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain beautiful, robust, and high-performance APIs and services
  • Ensure our infrastructure is extensible, scalable, reliable, and meets service-level agreements for both external and internal users
  • Hide complexity from our users behind simple yet powerful abstractions
  • Partner closely with other engineers, analysts, and scientists to build highly scalable systems, to deliver delightful developer experiences and comprehensive interfaces
  • Build the APIs that power internal stakeholder-facing UI experiences, defining composable data models and durable interfaces
  • Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack with an eye towards improving maintainability over the long term
  • Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and operating large-scale, high-performance APIs and services
  • You have implemented server-side APIs in dynamic languages like Ruby, working with document and relational datastores (especially Mongo and MySQL) and enjoy spelunking through new datasets (especially in systems like Redshift, Presto, or Trino).
  • Empathetic, collaborative, and user-first mindset in everything you build and have excellent oral and written communication
  • Experience proactively seeking feedback from users, teammates, and subject matter experts
  • The skills to build holistically — from specs and documentation to implementation, testing, deployment, and measuring impact and ability to balance speed, complexity, and scope in service of user needs

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with large-scale financial tracking systems
  • Good understanding and practical knowledge in cloud-based services (e.g. gRPC, GraphQL, Docker and Kubernetes, cloud services such as AWS, etc.)
  • Experience in marketing domain building products that contribute to marketing tech stack
