Original job description

Content provided by the employer

As we expand our liquid-cooled AI server portfolio, we are investing in world-class manufacturing technologies, supplier partnerships, and engineering talent to deliver exceptional quality and reliability. We believe strong supplier collaboration and manufacturing excellence are essential to building the next generation of AI systems.

We are looking for a Supplier Base Engineer – Liquid Cooling Contamination Control to join our Supplier Base Engineering team. In this role, you will help establish contamination control strategies, develop supplier capabilities, and ensure manufacturing readiness for NVIDIA's next-generation liquid cooling products. You will work closely with Mechanical Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, Reliability, Operations, and global suppliers to drive technical excellence from new product introduction through high-volume production.

What you'll be doing:

  • Define contamination control and fluid cleanliness standards for liquid cooling components, such as cold plates, coolant channels, manifolds, connectors, and PCB contact-pad interfaces.

  • Develop and validate inspection methods capable of detecting debris greater than 50 microns using optical inspection, microscopy, image analysis, particle counting, and other advanced inspection technologies.

  • Establish cleanliness criteria, sampling plans, acceptance thresholds, and filtration methods to support new product introduction (NPI) and high-volume manufacturing.

  • Work together with manufacturing, supplier quality, and engineering experts who build product solutions to identify contamination sources and develop effective prevention and containment controls.

  • Define cleaning, flushing, filtration, drying, packaging, and handling requirements to ensure product cleanliness throughout the manufacturing and supply chain.

  • Lead root cause investigations for contamination-related failures, including coolant blockage, debris-induced leakage, electrical contact contamination, and long-term reliability concerns.

  • Lead supplier qualification, process audits, and ongoing improvement efforts to guarantee alignment with NVIDIA contamination control standards and manufacturing protocols.

What we need to see:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.

  • 8+ years of experience in contamination control, manufacturing engineering, fluid systems, precision assembly, or high-reliability product development.

  • Experience developing contamination prevention strategies, cleanliness specifications, and inspection methodologies for manufacturing environments.

  • Hands-on experience with particle detection and cleanliness assessment techniques, including optical inspection, microscopy, particle counting, image analysis, or fluid cleanliness testing.

  • Experience validating inspection systems using GR&R, correlation studies, process capability analysis, and false reject/escape analysis.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, supplier quality, and operations groups.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Experience handling liquid cooling systems, including cold plates, coolant loops, manifolds, filtration, and coolant distribution architectures.

  • Knowledge of contamination control, technical cleanliness standards (e.g., ISO 16232, VDA 19/19.1), precision cleaning processes, and particulate cleanliness measurement.

  • Experience supporting supplier process qualification, manufacturing readiness, and high-volume production.

  • Understanding of coolant chemistry, filtration techniques, corrosion mechanisms, and material compatibility in liquid cooling systems.

  • Experience developing automated inspection solutions for contamination detection in precision manufacturing environments.
