The Amazon Prime Video UX team is seeking a self-motivated, ownership-minded, and nimble Senior Design Operations partner to be a force-multiplier for our UX Design & Research team, amplifying our efforts and impact. We design innovative experiences allowing customers around the world to discover, purchase, and watch the latest digital video content live and on demand.
You will collaborate closely with designers, researchers, engineers, product managers, and program managers leading projects throughout the planning, design, and development cycle. Your emphasis will be on planning and prioritization of design deliverables, resource management, schedule tracking, mitigating project risks, and collaborating with design leadership to deliver innovative solutions across workstreams. You will be a key part of a UX Design and Research team collaborating across all aspects of the Prime Video service. Come build the future of entertainment with us!
Key job responsibilities
- Own the operational strategy for complex, ambiguous design programs end to end, where the strategy and often the operating model are not yet defined and there is no precedent to copy
- Partner with UX leadership on key decisions and own the design roadmap for the organization: requirements gathering, scheduling, prioritization, capacity and resource planning, contracting and budget, and coordination of teams and reviews
- Own programs and portfolios of programs from concept to delivery, including the design decisions and escalations along the way
- Define the operational tool and AI strategy for the organization: govern adoption, set responsible-use guidelines, and decide where AI-augmented workflows are appropriate and where the work stays human-led
- Build automated workflows that scale design and research operations, and evaluate emerging tools against clear criteria and measurable outcomes
- Lead design delivery by managing team backlogs and removing obstacles, coordinating reviews with stakeholders and leadership, and empowering designers to own their timelines
- Design change strategies for org-wide operational shifts: build coalition before rollout, measure adoption, iterate, and balance the pace of change against the team's capacity
- Standardize, socialize, and continuously improve our user-centered design process, and build the operational infrastructure behind it, including research repositories, tooling, and how insights reach the people who need them
- Act as a bridge between UX, Engineering, Product Management, and other cross-functional partners, making sure interdependencies are understood and planned for, and influencing priorities without direct authority
- Anticipate bottlenecks, manage escalations, and balance customer needs against business goals and technical constraints, mitigating long-term risk and not only the immediate kind
- Define success metrics and own their implementation across our work, and craft the strategic narratives that connect it to business outcomes for senior leaders in yearly planning and business reviews
- Enable creative solutions through design acumen and high judgment, distinguishing one-way doors from two-way doors
- Promote transparency, visibility, and community across the team
