Software Development Engineer, Alexa Communications

As a SDE, you'll drive the development of next-generation communication features powered by advanced AI technologies, including AI Agents and Real-time AI. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and data science, to design and deliver innovative solutions that leverage these AI technologies to enable seamless, intelligent communication experiences. You'll also lead the integration of these advanced AI systems into Alexa's core capabilities, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience.

This position is within Alexa Communications team which develops core software components for communication experiences across various platforms. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with domain experts and software engineers, and deliver key Alexa Communications features and use cases.

Key job responsibilities
Work closely with product and design teams to Influence overall product strategy.
Working with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technologies and evaluate technical feasibility
Building highly scalable, reliable and available distributed services leveraging AWS Cloud
Contributing to operational excellence, constructively identifying problems and proposing solutions
Writing clean, maintainable code and performing peer code-reviews
Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software
Find new ways to solve challenging problems every day
Build agentic APIs to deliver a low latency, low cost, highly reliable, and high scalable cloud services and device software solutions.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
