In this role, you will develop and maintain the vulnerability management plan, sustain an accurate asset inventory, and establish a disciplined patching cadence across the platform. You will run periodic security scans, analyze and prioritize findings by risk, and drive resolution of Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) to closure. Working alongside the Information System Security Manager (ISSM), platform build and engineering teams, and U.S. Government counterparts, you will ensure vulnerabilities are tracked, reported, and remediated in a timely manner. You will also maintain the System Security Plan (SSP) as it relates to vulnerability and patch management, support audit review, and help sustain a valid Authorization to Operate (ATO).
This position requires U.S. Citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the vulnerability management plan and supporting documentation.
- Build and sustain an accurate, comprehensive asset inventory as the basis for vulnerability coverage.
- Establish and enforce a patching cadence, coordinating with platform and engineering teams to remediate on schedule.
- Conduct periodic vulnerability scans, validate results, and prioritize findings by risk and operational impact.
- Drive resolution of Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) from identification through closure.
- Track remediation to completion and report status to the ISSM and U.S. Government counterparts.
- Maintain the System Security Plan (SSP) as it pertains to vulnerability and patch management.
- Support periodic audit review and respond to ad hoc security inquiries from government stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of scanning, reporting, and remediation processes and automation to improve efficiency.
- Help sustain a valid Authorization to Operate (ATO) by ensuring continuous vulnerability management.
A day in the life
Your day starts with the latest scan results. You review new findings, prioritize them by risk and operational impact, and update the asset inventory so nothing falls outside coverage. You work with platform and engineering teams to schedule patches against the cadence, then drive an open IAVA toward closure, tracking remediation until it is verified. Midday, you refresh the vulnerability management plan and update the SSP to reflect current patch posture. You report status to the ISSM and your Government counterparts, field an audit inquiry, and refine a scan report. Every action you take keeps the system covered, documented, and holding a valid ATO.
