Manager, Product Management - Personal Loans

Product Management at Capital One is a booming, vibrant craft that requires reimagining the status quo, finding value creation opportunities, and driving innovative and sustainable customer experiences through technology. We believe our portfolio of businesses and investments in growth and transformation will result in a company with the scale, brand, capabilities, talent, and values to succeed as the digital revolution transforms our society and our industry.

About the Team

Capital One, via Discover Personal Loans, is a leading provider of unsecured personal loans in the US, serving more than 600,000 customers and originating more than $4B annually to meet the debt consolidation and purchase finance needs of both existing and new customers.  Our product is incredibly simple and clear for customers to use and understand the value - fixed interest and term, no fees, no gimmicks.  We have an awesome team who obsess every day about growing our business, meeting the needs of our customers, and delivering in an exceptionally well managed way.

As a Manager of Product Management, you will lead the front-end design of customer application experience for Capital One Personal Loans. Your focus will span from the moment a customer lands on the initial application page—whether responding to a targeted invitation or arriving via non-solicited organic traffic—through to the critical offer selection screens. You will be accountable for driving our UI/UX experimentation roadmap, partnering deeply with Design and Credit Risk and Analytics partners to test things such as offer customization, visual layouts, and counter-offer experiences. If you love obsessing over conversion funnels, micro-copy, and running data-driven A/B tests that instantly impact a $4B+ business, this role is for you.

In this role, you’ll be accountable for:

  • Executing the experimentation roadmap for the upfront application entry points, partnering with Design, Credit Risk and Analytics to launch, monitor, and scale A/B tests that expand into new segmentations and optimize conversion for all customer segments

  • Optimizing the offer selection and counter-offer UX, ensuring that complex financial choices are presented clearly, transparently, and intuitively to the customer

  • Leveraging AI for rapid prototyping to quickly translate user insights and funnel data into crisp product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for our engineering delivery teams

  • Collaborating closely with Tech, Design, and Marketing counterparts to ensure seamless frontend execution and bulletproof tracking of user behavior across screens

  • Ensuring a well-managed delivery process, proactively tracking bugs, production health, and compliance requirements for the upfront application screens

Capital One Product Framework

In this role, you’ll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in five key areas which we consider to be the foundation for successful Product Management:

  • Human Centered - Obsesses about internal and external customer needs to reimagine and innovate product solutions

  • Business Focused - Delivers game-changing outcomes by focusing on leverage and execution excellence

  • Technology Driven - Leverages technology to deliver innovative and resilient solutions that enable both near term and long term value

  • Integrated Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves complex problems to deliver outcomes while mitigating product risks

  • Transformational Leadership - Leads cross functional teams to solve customer problems and drive organizational alignment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date:

    • A Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field), Business or Marketing

OR

  • Bachelor's degree in any field and at least 3 years of Product Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience translating business strategy and analysis into consumer facing digital products
