In Places, we don’t sit back and let things happen; we make things happen, and we do this in service to all Apple employees and customers. Our team is a diverse and nimble group that manages Apple’s retail stores, workplaces, and workplace services. We develop and manage Apple’s global real estate portfolio, lead all related capital construction projects, provide outstanding facilities and site services, develop and lead sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of all Apple facilities, including commute and renewable energy programs, and do everything we can to ensure the health and safety of all Apple personnel, facilities, and customers in our facilities around the world.

Description

On the Global Energy & Sustainability team within Places, our our mission is to drive sustainability and carbon reduction in Apple’s facilities, services, and products through transformative energy,
water, and waste management initiatives to leave the world better than we found it. Collaborate with the policy team in developing Apple energy policy positions to promote clean energy, energy storage, load shifting, data access and reporting.
Manage the development of a global Scope 3 renewable energy attribute (REC) retirement strategy; engage in technical discussions with the standards bodies (e.g., GHG Protocol, SBTi, ISO and other working groups) to shape energy standards.
Manage consultants and collaborate with industry stakeholders to develop a methodology for credibly counting residual grid mix / Standard Supply Service for our Scope 3, Category 11 program.
Model Apple’s renewable energy portfolio against emerging standards (e.g., impact accounting, stricter time and location matching, etc.).
Foster and maintain excellent relationships with Policy, Standards, Government Affairs, Procurement, Finance and Legal.

Minimum Qualifications

BA/BS degree in environmental science, climate science, engineering, energy, or a related technical field.
7+ years of experience working in clean energy project development, policy, standards or energy consulting in North America with international experience a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in environmental engineering, management, policy or sustainability with an energy focus.
Ability to leverage experience developing renewable energy as a developer or buyer when influencing standards, policy or regulatory proceedings.
Quantitative background with demonstrated ability to review carbon emissions models, and carbon accounting frameworks and provide technical feedback.
Attention to detail to read, summarize and influence standards, policy and regulatory filings.
Excellent spoken and written communication skills with ability to collaborate seamlessly with colleagues across departments and stakeholders throughout the industry.
Creative, out-of-the-box thinking, grounded in real-life experience and pragmatic problem solving as well as a curiosity and willingness to learn - leveraging energy expertise across an array of new topics.
Strong project management and time management skills to execute on multiple priorities in a fast-paced global setting.
