Software Development Engineer

Amazon Advertising is building a new vertical ads platform from the ground up — purpose-built to simplify full-funnel advertising for strategic verticals like financial services, autos, and local businesses. You'll design and deliver AI-powered advertising solutions that use specialized agentic models to diversify demand across these verticals, working on a greenfield problem without established patterns to follow.

This is a startup-style team with an ambitious vision: make it dramatically easier for advertisers in underserved verticals to launch effective full-funnel campaigns at scale. You'll work closely with a Principal Engineer and scientists to build the tools, services, and frameworks that power these new offerings — from backend infrastructure to the agentic AI systems that simplify campaign creation and optimization.

Key job responsibilities
- Design and develop AI-powered advertising tools and services that simplify full-funnel campaign creation for vertical advertisers (financial services, autos, local businesses)
- Deliver features end to end — from system design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production operations — in a fast-moving greenfield environment
- Build and evolve the agentic AI frameworks that power simplified advertising offerings, collaborating closely with scientists on model integration and serving
- Collaborate with a Principal Engineer to make foundational technical decisions on architecture, tooling, and service design for a new platform being built from scratch
- Develop scalable infrastructure to support diverse demand across multiple strategic verticals, each with distinct advertiser needs and campaign patterns
- Participate in design discussions and code reviews, contributing to engineering quality in a team that's establishing its technical foundations
- Mentor peers and contribute to a strong engineering culture as the team grows

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
