About this role
Lead, Protective Intelligence
YOUR TEAM
The Protective Intelligence function supports the Firm’s security and executive protection capabilities by identifying, assessing, and communicating threats that could affect executives and other designated individuals. The team works across Executive Protection, Intelligence, Investigations, Security Operations, Information Security, and other relevant functions to turn intelligence into informed security decisions and protective action.
YOUR ROLE AND IMPACT
As a Vice President in Protective Intelligence, you will lead day-to-day protective intelligence activities, combining open-source research, threat assessment, analytical judgment, and stakeholder engagement to identify and evaluate potential threats to executives and other designated individuals.
You will operate independently in a fast-paced corporate environment, assess ambiguous and sensitive situations, and translate complex information into clear recommendations for security professionals and senior stakeholders. You will also help advance the Firm’s protective intelligence capabilities by strengthening methodologies, processes, technologies, data sources, analytical standards, and integration with other security functions.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
In every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies with the rigor to challenge the results. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:
- Lead protective intelligence and threat-assessment activities involving executives and designated individuals, using open-source intelligence (OSINT), investigative methodologies, and structured analysis to identify, validate, monitor, and assess threats, concerning behavior, unwanted attention, doxing, and other indicators of potential risk.
- Maintain awareness of evolving global threat environments and produce timely, objective, and actionable assessments that evaluate credibility, intent, capability, potential impact, and appropriate escalation to support protective and security decisions.
- Serve as a protective intelligence subject matter expert, advancing analytical standards, threat-assessment frameworks, escalation protocols, intelligence requirements, technology capabilities, data sources, automation, and operating procedures while providing guidance and mentorship to supporting analysts.
- Partner across Executive Protection, Intelligence, Investigations, Security Operations, Information Security, and other relevant functions to integrate protective intelligence into security planning, investigations, protective operations, and broader risk decisions.
- Brief senior and operational stakeholders on significant threats, emerging risks, investigations, and sensitive matters, translating complex intelligence into clear implications and recommendations while building trusted relationships across the organization.
- Develop executive-ready threat assessments, investigative summaries, briefings, and presentations; manage competing intelligence requirements; and maintain accurate, appropriately sourced documentation and records.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant professional experience in intelligence analysis, protective intelligence, risk consulting, investigations, security operations, or a related corporate security function.
- High proficiency in open-source intelligence (OSINT), investigative techniques, and research methodologies, with demonstrated ability to identify, validate, analyze, and synthesize information across multiple open-source environments.
- Demonstrated analytical judgment in assessing incomplete or ambiguous information, together with a strong understanding of global security threats, information security risks, and their implications for executives and organizations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, organizational, and project-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accuracy and discretion, and communicate sensitive issues effectively to senior and non-expert audiences in a matrixed organization.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Preferred experience includes corporate or protective intelligence, executive protection or Security Operations Center environments; behavioral or threat assessment involving high-profile individuals; intelligence support to protective operations; commercial intelligence and monitoring platforms; and development or improvement of intelligence processes, frameworks, technology solutions, or workflows.
