Job Description

How Will You Make an Impact?

The Manager, Verification & Validation will lead Singapore’s Genetic Sciences Division (GSD) V&V organization as it develops into a Center of Excellence supporting the broader GSD portfolio. The role will build the people, technical capability, strategy, and operating model needed to deliver system-level V&V across instruments, assays, consumables, reagents, software, and integrated workflows.

This is not solely a test-execution role. The successful candidate will engage projects early, shape risk-based V&V strategies, challenge assumptions constructively, and help teams build quality and testability into products. The role will also strengthen V&V through appropriate use of automation, advanced analytics, and AI-assisted methods.

The Manager will lead an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, broaden capability across qPCR, Microarray, CE/HID, and other GSD technologies, and establish an effective operating model that enables V&V to scale across a broad and evolving portfolio.

What will you do?

Lead Platform V&V Strategy

  • Own system-level V&V strategy across GSD instruments, software, consumables, assays, and integrated workflows.
  • Translate customer needs, intended use, requirements, and risks into robust, traceable, risk-based V&V plans.
  • Establish integrated test strategies and provide evidence-based assessments of product readiness and residual risk.

Shift Quality Left

  • Partner with Systems and R&D teams early in development to improve requirements, testability, interface definition, and product robustness.
  • Identify technical and integration risks early enough to influence design and development decisions.
  • Use prototype, integration, and verification evidence to reduce uncertainty and guide technical trade-offs.

Modernize V&V Through Automation and AI

  • Drive reusable test methods, automation, data analytics, and platform-level V&V capabilities.
  • Apply AI-assisted approaches where appropriate to improve requirements analysis, test development, traceability, coverage assessment, and documentation.
  • Ensure appropriate human oversight, data governance, traceability, and validation rigor when applying AI and advanced analytics.

Lead Technical Problem-Solving and Product Quality

  • Provide technical oversight for complex system-level investigations, V&V issues, and product-readiness decisions.
  • Ensure technical decisions are grounded in customer impact, system risk, and scientific and engineering evidence.
  • Partner with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure clear, defensible, and audit-ready V&V evidence across new products, product changes, and sustaining activities.

Build a High-Performing Global Team

  • Lead, coach, and develop an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers in Singapore.
  • Build capability in systems thinking, risk-based V&V, automation, data analysis, and cross-platform technologies.
  • Strengthen succession and technical leadership while creating an effective operating model that enables the team to scale across the GSD portfolio.
  • Collaborate across the global GSD organization and help establish Singapore as a source of product insight, technical leadership, and innovation—not only execution.

How will you get here?

I. Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience. Relevant disciplines may include bioengineering, biomedical engineering, life sciences, analytical sciences, or related science or engineering fields.

II. Experience

  • Demonstrated experience developing and leading system-level V&V strategies for complex, multidisciplinary life-science products.
  • Experience validating integrated systems involving instruments, consumables, assays, software, and data workflows.
  • Experience working in a global, cross-functional product-development environment.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience, including coaching and developing technical professionals.
  • Experience with qPCR, dPCR, genetic-analysis systems, molecular diagnostics, or related life-science workflows is preferred.
  • Experience applying automation, advanced analytics, or AI-assisted tools to V&V, testing, data analysis, or technical investigations is an advantage.

III. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering, requirements traceability, risk-based V&V, and system-level test strategy.

  • Understanding of design controls, quality systems, and regulatory expectations in a regulated or quality-controlled environment.
  • Practical experience with Python, MATLAB, R, or similar tools for automation and data analysis is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with reliability, usability, cybersecurity, and connected laboratory systems.
  • Practical understanding of AI and machine-learning methods, including their limitations and validation considerations.

IV. Leadership and Behaviors

  • Hands-on, curious, and action-oriented.
  • Challenges assumptions constructively and surfaces risks early.
  • Strong systems thinker who connects technical details with customer and business outcomes.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in balancing rigor, speed, evidence, and risk.
