Role Overview

This Director role is a senior front-office position within the Counterparty Trading & Risk (CTR) team, based on the trading floor in New York or London. Operating as a critical direct report to the CCR CTR Lead, the successful candidate will drive proactive credit and market risk analysis, and execution Counterparty Credit Risk responses across Fixed Income & Commodities markets (FICC) with a dedicated focus on the Europe and North America time zone.

Positioned at the intersection of Trading, Structuring, and Credit Risk, this role combines forward-looking macro/market trend monitoring, counterparty credit analysis, and crisis management. The candidate will act as a primary CTR lead, evaluating complex non-standard transactions, anticipating credit stress points, partnering with XVA Trading on hedging and book optimization, and leading strategic front-office infrastructure initiatives (including the transition to real-time exposure analytics).

Key Responsibilities

Live Credit Crisis Response & Proactive Risk Management

●                        Market & Geopolitical Trend Monitoring: Continuously track global economic drivers, credit spread movements, rate shifts, volatility spikes, and geopolitical dynamics to anticipate counterparty vulnerabilities and sector-specific stresses.

  • Market & Counterparty Analysis: Conduct proactive, market-driven exposure analysis across counterparties, sectors, and countries—analyzing market-implied indicators (CDS spreads, bond yields, equity volatility, rating transitions) to dynamically assess trading capacity, margin adequacy, and concentration risks across active derivative and financing portfolios.
  • Live Market Event Response & Unwind Execution: Lead the Markets response during CCR related events by coordinating across key internal stakeholders; formulate actionable risk-mitigating, trade-hedging, and exposure-rebalancing strategies, and actively drive portfolio unwinds or closeout execution when required.

Trading Desk & Sales Collaboration (Pre-Trade & Post-Trade)

●                        Pre-Trade analysis: Partner directly with Sales, Structuring, and Trading desks across Rates, Credit, FX, and Commodities on complex or bespoke trades—providing real-time guidance on margin structures, Return opportunities and XVA impact.

●                        XVA Trading Partnership & Hedging: Work closely with XVA Trading on day-to-day book risk management, active credit hedging strategies, dynamic inventory optimization, and front-office pricing adjustments (CVA, FVA, ColVA).

●                        Live Crisis & Event Management: Lead rapid-response protocols during client defaults, distressed restructurings, severe margin disputes, or sharp market dislocations—partnering with Trading, Sales, Legal, Operations, Institutional Credit Management (ICM) and Risk to minimize loss and optimize closeout execution.

●                        Fire Drills & Regulatory engagement: Lead mock closeout simulations and refine trading desk default playbooks to maintain commercial preparedness for extreme tail-risk scenarios. Involvement in Regulatory questions, advocacy groups and working forum to represent CTR.

Credit Risk & Infrastructure Partnership

●                        Credit Risk Liaison: Act as the front-office voice to ICM and Credit Risk; discuss risk outlooks, new transaction opportunities, and address credit concerns.

●                        T0 Real-Time Exposure Analytics: Spearhead business requirements and project execution alongside Technology, Quantitative Analytics, and Operations to deliver real-time (T0/intraday) counterparty exposure.

●                        Front-Office Tooling & Analytics: Partner with quantitative developers and XVA traders to design and implement next-generation dashboards, automated scenario shock tools, and smart alerting systems.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience & Background

●                        Professional Experience: 8+ years of experience within Global Markets in XVA Trading, Structuring, Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR) management, In-Business Credit Risk, or Fixed Income Credit Strategy at a top-tier investment bank.

●                        Trading Floor Acumen: Proven track record operating directly on or alongside fast-paced trading desks, with high comfort in navigating market volatility and managing live trade situations.

●                        Commercial & Credit Mindset: Demonstrated ability to balance commercial trade enablement with rigorous credit risk discipline and capital efficiency.

●                        Project & Transformation Delivery: Demonstrated track record of leading risk infrastructure or technology change projects involving Front Office, Operations, and IT stakeholders.

Markets & Product Mastery

●                        Product Knowledge: In-depth understanding of over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives, exchange-traded derivatives (ETD), and Securities Financing Transactions (SFTs/Repo) across Rates, Credit, FX, and Commodities.

●                        Pricing & Risk Metrics: Strong mastery of derivative pricing mechanics, Greeks, potential future exposure (PFE), current exposure (MtM), and XVA methodologies (CVA, FVA, ColVA, KVA).

●                        Documentation & Netting: Solid command of ISDA Master Agreements, CSAs, GMRAs, clearing rules, closeout netting mechanisms, and initial/variation margin dynamics.

●                        Regulatory Context: Familiarity with Basel III/IV capital regulations, SA-CCR, stressed VaR, and related prudential counterparty risk standards.

●                        Macro & Credit Fundamentals: Strong grasp of corporate credit analysis, hedge fund strategies (e.g., multi-strat, macro, RV), and global macro indicators.

Stakeholder & Communication Skills

●                        Front-Office Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional written and oral communication skills, capable of synthesizing complex risk and quantitative findings for senior trading desks, risk committees, and executive management.

●                        Collaboration & Leadership: High degree of self-motivation with the ability to lead cross-regional initiatives across London, Paris, New York, and APAC.
