About the role
Original posting provided by Microsoft
The future of work isn’t just people using AI—it’s people and agents communicating, collaborating, and moving business forward together. In IC3, we’re building Microsoft WorkIQ capabilities that turn conversations, meetings, and everyday interactions into shared understanding, lasting knowledge, and action. Join us to shape how agents participate in collaboration and help teams carry work forward—not simply summarize what happened.
You’ll thrive here if you’re curious, technically grounded, and energized by problems without a playbook. We move fast and deliver continuously, so you’ll turn ambiguity into clear priorities, make timely decisions with incomplete information, and give engineering the clarity to move. You’ll distinguish two-way doors, where fast experimentation is appropriate, from one-way doors, where durable consequences demand deeper thought. This isn’t a write-the-spec-and-hand-it-off PM role: you’ll learn, experiment, make the call, and own the outcome.
You’ll recognize that the data model is part of the product: how we represent conversations, decisions, and relationships shapes what humans and agents can understand, remember, and act on. As agentic coding lowers the cost of changing implementation, you’ll apply deliberate judgment to data-model decisions that are harder to reverse. You’ll experiment hands-on with models, analyze large-scale data, and define metrics and evaluations that connect AI quality to better collaboration and business outcomes. You’ll stay close to emerging capabilities and market shifts, translating what you learn into differentiated products.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Responsibilities
As a Principal Product Manager, you will be responsible for the following:
Shape human–agent collaboration: Define Microsoft WorkIQ experiences that turn conversations, meetings, and shared work into understanding, decisions, and action.
Make decisions under ambiguity: We move fast and deliver continuously, so you’ll turn ambiguity into clear priorities, make timely decisions with incomplete information, and give engineering the clarity to move.
Own data-model product decisions: Define how interactions, context, and knowledge are represented, balancing rapid iteration with durable design choices.
Define and own evals: Translate customer scenarios into evaluation datasets, scoring rubrics, and quality thresholds that guide product decisions and release readiness.
Apply data science: Analyze large-scale interaction data and partner with data scientists to design experiments, distinguish signal from noise, and measure customer and business impact.
Experiment with models and agents: Prototype, test capabilities, investigate failures, and translate hands-on learning into product choices.
Ship in weeks: Align engineering, design, research, and data science to deliver focused increments and adapt quickly to evidence.
Anticipate market shifts: Track model and competitive advances to identify differentiated opportunities and durable investments.
Design for trust: Embed privacy, permissions, governance, and safe disclosure into human–agent interactions.
