Role Summary

We are seeking a Director of Data Execution & Operations to lead enterprise data execution and operational delivery across all Takeda U.S. Business Unit (USBU) and Oncology Business Unit (OBU) markets. The Director will be accountable for reliable day-to-day operations, disciplined execution, service performance, issue resolution, and continuous improvement across the portfolio.

The Director will lead the India Capability Center (ICC) team for the above markets, with ICC team members reporting directly into this role. The Director will work closely with the U.S. Director of Data Execution & Operations on day-to-day operational activities, execution priorities, and enhancements. This leader will establish a scalable operating model, strengthen operational governance, introduce automation, and provide leadership with clear visibility into operational performance, pipeline, demand, risks, and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

·   Lead the Data Execution & Operations program across all Takeda USBU and OBU markets, ensuring consistent delivery, operational stability, and business continuity.

·   Partner closely with the U.S. Director of Data Execution & Operations to manage day-to-day operational activities, execution priorities, enhancements, and cross-market dependencies.

·   Own end-to-end operational execution, including data processing, production support, incident management, release readiness, operational handoffs, and issue escalation.

·   Establish and continuously improve the operating model, including roles, responsibilities, governance forums, decision rights, escalation paths, and communication rhythms.

·   Define, track, and report service-level agreements (SLAs), operational KPIs, delivery metrics, recurring issues, and improvement actions.

·   Prepare and present regular operational reporting covering SLA performance, KPIs, delivery status, incidents, risks, backlog, demand, and continuous improvement actions.

·   Maintain an integrated backlog and demand tracker with clear ownership, prioritization, status, dependencies, target timelines, and escalation needs.

·   Provide leadership with transparent visibility into the delivery pipeline, upcoming demand, resource capacity, operational risks, and decisions required.

·   Work closely with the team to identify operational inefficiencies and implement automation that reduces manual effort, improves quality, and accelerates issue resolution.

·   Drive structured root cause analysis and sustainable remediation for production issues, data delays, recurring defects, and cross-platform dependencies.

·   Bring forward new ideas, tools, and delivery practices that improve reliability, transparency, scalability, cost efficiency, and user experience over time.

·   Ensure clear documentation, runbooks, standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer, and support readiness across all programs.

·   Provide timely and transparent updates to senior stakeholders on operational health, risks, dependencies, decisions, and corrective actions.

·   Lead timely escalations for critical incidents, delivery risks, unresolved dependencies, capacity constraints, and items requiring leadership intervention.

ICC Team Leadership and Talent Management

·   Lead the ICC Data Execution & Operations organization, with ICC team members reporting directly to the Director.

·   Build a high-performing team with clear accountability, strong ownership, defined goals, and measurable outcomes.

·   Coach and develop team members, strengthen technical and operational capabilities, and create development and succession plans.

·   Ensure the right skills, capacity, and leadership coverage are aligned to USBU and OBU priorities.

·   Promote a culture of responsiveness, collaboration, transparency, continuous learning, and proactive problem-solving.

·   Coordinate effectively with onsite teams and delivery partners across locations and time zones.

Operational Governance and Continuous Improvement

·   Create a standardized operating model that can be applied consistently while supporting market- and franchise-specific data, business rules, and operational needs.

·   Implement governance routines for service reviews, SLA performance, incident trends, risk management, prioritization, and continuous improvement.

·   Establish dashboards and reporting that provide clear visibility into operational performance, backlog, recurring issues, team capacity, and improvement progress.

·   Develop an automation roadmap focused on monitoring, alerting, reconciliation, workflow orchestration, issue triage, and recurring operational activities.

·   Use service data, trend analysis, stakeholder feedback, and lessons learned to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities.

·   Ensure operational processes are scalable, documented, auditable, compliant, and ready to support product launches and changing business priorities.

Stakeholder and Partner Management

·   Partner with USBU and OBU business leaders, data teams, analytics, architecture, governance, source-system teams, platform teams, and operations stakeholders.

·   Translate business priorities into clear execution plans, operational commitments, and measurable service outcomes.

·   Lead operational reviews and communicate issues, risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

·   Oversee vendor and delivery partner performance, including staffing, service levels, quality, timelines, financials, and corrective actions.

·   Ensure shared resources, responsibilities, and dependencies are transparent across programs.

Pharma and Life Sciences Responsibilities

·   Apply strong knowledge of pharmaceutical commercial and oncology data to operational planning, execution, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.

·   Provide operational leadership across customer, patient, product, sales, claims, specialty pharmacy, market access, field activity, and syndicated data, as applicable.

·   Ensure sensitive and regulated data is handled with appropriate privacy, security, access, retention, lineage, quality, and audit controls.

·   Partner with market and franchise stakeholders to understand business rules, data frequencies, critical processes, and service expectations.

·   Anticipate operational readiness needs for product launches, new data sources, platform changes, and evolving business models.

Required Qualifications and Skills

·   Proven experience leading large, distributed teams and managing direct reports in an enterprise or capability-center environment.

·   Demonstrated experience leading operations across multiple business units, markets, franchises, platforms, or programs.

·   Strong experience establishing operating models, governance routines, SLAs, KPIs, incident management, escalation processes, and continuous improvement programs.

·   Experience using automation, monitoring, reconciliation, and observability to improve operational performance and reduce manual effort.

·   Working knowledge of modern data platforms, Databricks, cloud technologies, ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and production support practices.

·   Experience managing portfolios, vendors, capacity, budgets, operational risks, service levels, and executive communications.

·   Strong pharmaceutical or life sciences domain knowledge, preferably across commercial and oncology data ecosystems.

·   Ability to influence senior stakeholders, simplify complex issues, make sound decisions, and drive accountability across organizational boundaries.

·   Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, data science, information systems, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

·   Master's degree in a relevant technical or business discipline.

·   Experience leading an India Capability Center or similar global delivery organization.

·   Experience with Azure, Databricks, data observability, workflow automation, and enterprise data platforms.

·   Knowledge of pharmaceutical product launches, syndicated data, specialty pharmacy, patient services, sales, claims, and market access operations.
