Position Summary
The Senior Systems Developer / Developer III serves as the senior technical lead for the Clarity PPM platform and provides L3 technical support, complex development, configuration, integration, troubleshooting, upgrades, patching, release support, and technical solution design. The role acts as the primary internal Clarity technical SME and is responsible for resolving complex production issues, guiding technical standards, coordinating with product and infrastructure vendors, and developing broader technical capability across the support team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level L3 technical support for Clarity PPM.
- Own complex incidents and technical problems through resolution.
- Perform detailed analysis and resolution of issues involving functional configuration, custom code, application data, reports, interfaces, integrations, and workflows.
- Lead root-cause analysis for recurring, critical, or technically complex production issues.
- Design, develop, configure, test, and deploy Clarity enhancements and technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain GEL scripts, NSQL queries, SQL, XOG integrations, REST APIs, XML integrations, reports, portlets, workflows, and related technical components.
- Translate functional requirements into detailed technical specifications and solution designs.
- Review technical designs and development deliverables produced by other team members.
- Support Clarity application services, batch processes, scheduled jobs, interfaces, and automated file transfers.
- Troubleshoot failed batch jobs, integrations, data issues, and application processes.
- Lead technical activities associated with Clarity upgrades, patches, hot fixes, and platform changes.
- Coordinate with Broadcom for product-level issues, patches, defects, and vendor-supported fixes.
- Support investigation of application-server and database-related issues from the application perspective and coordinate with infrastructure or DBA teams when resolution falls outside the Clarity support scope.
- Support proactive application performance analysis and recommend preventative or corrective actions.
- Participate in application monitoring and capacity-related technical analysis.
- Lead or support technical testing, unit testing, integration testing, defect resolution, and production validation.
- Support UAT and production deployment activities.
- Maintain deployment instructions, technical evidence, rollback plans, validation results, and change records.
- Ensure production changes are implemented in accordance with SOX controls, segregation-of-duties requirements, security standards, and approved change processes.
- Support SOX audits, evidence requests, technical control testing, and remediation activities.
- Maintain technical runbooks, system diagrams, Known Error Database entries, troubleshooting procedures, and support documentation.
- Participate in structured knowledge transfer from the incumbent managed service provider.
- Cross-train Developer II and Junior Application Administrators.
- Support Disaster Recovery planning, application restoration procedures, mock DR exercises, and recovery validation.
- Participate in the team's 16x5 operational support model.
- Participate in the P1/P2 on-call rotation.
- Lead or support planned weekend upgrades, patches, releases, deployments, and maintenance activities.
- Act as technical escalation point when production issues require advanced analysis.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced Degree plus 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of professional software development experience
- Preferred Fields of Study: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field
- Significant experience developing and supporting enterprise business applications.
- Strong experience with production troubleshooting, application development, configuration, integrations, and technical support.
- Strong SQL and relational database skills.
- Experience with application upgrades, patches, releases, and production deployments.
- Experience performing root-cause analysis and resolving complex production issues.
- Experience operating within controlled change-management and audit environments.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to support extended-hours operations, weekend maintenance, and on-call responsibilities.
Required Clarity PPM Skills and Experience
- Advanced hands-on Clarity PPM technical development, configuration, administration, and L3 production support experience.
- Advanced proficiency with GEL scripting, NSQL, and SQL for complex development, data analysis, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Strong proficiency with XOG, REST APIs, XML, web services, and enterprise application integrations.
- Advanced experience developing and supporting Clarity custom content, including reports, portlets, workflows, processes, views, and customer-specific functionality.
- Advanced experience troubleshooting Clarity production issues involving application configuration, integrations, batch jobs, data, performance, and custom code.
- Strong working knowledge of Oracle and/or SQL Server and the ability to perform application-level database analysis without assuming DBA ownership.
- Working knowledge of Linux and Apache Tomcat sufficient to diagnose application-layer issues and coordinate with infrastructure or middleware teams.
- Advanced experience leading Clarity upgrades, patches, hot fixes, production deployments, rollback planning, and post-deployment validation.
- Experience coordinating product-level defects, patches, and technical escalations with Broadcom.
- Experience supporting Clarity in a SOX-controlled environment, including controlled changes, segregation of duties, audit evidence, and production access requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor developers and administrators and transfer Clarity technical knowledge across a support team.
