About the role
Original posting provided by amazon
This is a perfect role for a finance leader with highly advanced data skills, or a data leader with strong ability and genuine interest in finance. You know how to turn large, messy datasets into advanced analysis, automation, and metrics that move the business. You lead through ambiguity, you dive deep to find the root cause, and you are comfortable when your ideas and mechanisms are tested daily. You will be a senior member of a Hub-and-Spoke analytics team whose mission is to own the outcome of the NACF finance analytics function.
Key job responsibilities
Business Finance Support
- Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models and analyses with little guidance, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results and drive improvements.
- Serve as an expert in both Finance and Data, bridging the gap between finance and data teams and building deep understanding of the cost-of-fulfillment drivers across the NACF network along with the related finance, accounting, and controllership systems and data.
- Partner with Finance and Operations leaders to develop, execute, and continuously innovate weekly and monthly financial reviews, forecasting, and reporting models, and communicate the results clearly.
Controllership
- Own the efficiency of financial reporting for a business area, identify and solve complex data-integrity issues with stakeholders, and insist on the highest standards.
- Identify the need for improved controls to address risk driven by business, industry, policy, and regulatory change, and proactively propose control solutions.
- Develop and execute data-analysis processes that are scalable and auditable.
Business Analysis
- Identify and implement opportunities to resolve finance issues and to improve, scale, automate, or simplify finance tools, technology, and processes across teams and organizations.
- Understand how data flows through our financial platforms, know the right data to use for analysis, and establish a source of truth.
- Apply AI to raise team productivity and automate financial workflows: use large language models and agentic development tools (for example AWS Kiro, Claude Code, and similar) to build analyses, tooling, and automation faster than traditional methods allow.
- Write systems queries and perform data mining and analysis using Excel, SQL (required), and Python; find creative solutions using large-scale data-mining tools.
- Solve complex problems that affect company-wide strategic decision-making, lead through ambiguity, and identify high-priority work to maximize results for key stakeholders.
- Simplify and centralize process improvement and reporting so business partners and customers can take action quickly, and enable stakeholders to self-service their data needs.
People
- Take part in hiring and developing activities and mentor new team members.
- Seek, value, and leverage diverse perspectives.
- Challenge business-partner plans and assumptions when needed.
- Communicate data clearly, concisely, and unambiguously, verbally and in writing, and articulate complex finance issues to non-Finance partners.
- Positively contribute to work/life harmony on your team and find creative solutions to close gaps for your team.
A day in the life
No two days in NACF Finance look alike. You will work in a fast-paced, high-energy, and ever-changing environment alongside Operations, Product, Tech, and Procurement partners. One day you may be building a cost model for a network initiative, the next automating a reporting process with an AI-assisted toolchain, the next root-causing a data defect that is distorting a leadership metric or mentoring an analyst through their first deep-dive. You move with purpose and speed, think like an owner, and treat every day as Day One.
About the team
NACF Finance Transformation & Analytics is a centralized, Hub-and-Spoke analytics team that supports the North American Customer Fulfillment network. The team is the front door for finance analytics: rationalizing the reporting landscape into one source of truth, delivering advanced analytics and deep-dive root-causing, and building AI-first automation that lets finance spend less time assembling data and more time answering the hard questions. You will partner with Senior Leaders across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Procurement, Accounting, and Technology as a trusted financial advocate and business partner.
