About this role

Your team

The Accounting Data Management team is part of Aladdin Data and serves as a critical partner to BlackRock’s Investment Accounting and outsourced accounting business. The team manages the integrity, governance, and operational management of security, transaction, market, and accounting data used across investment accounting, regulatory reporting, portfolio operations, and client servicing.

The team oversees the onboarding, validation, and maintenance of investment and accounting data while advancing automation, standardization, and scalable operating models. Through close partnership with accounting teams, portfolio operations, technology teams, data providers, and external investment managers, the team enables timely, accurate, and controlled data flows that support client reporting, regulatory obligations, and operational excellence.

Your role and impact

As the Accounting Data Lead, you will lead and develop a team supporting critical investment accounting data processes in Mexico. You will be responsible for strengthening data quality, operational controls, automation, and continuous improvement while helping the team deliver consistent and scalable outcomes.

This role combines investment accounting knowledge, data management expertise, and people leadership. You will partner with global teams to improve processes, resolve complex data issues, enhance client outcomes, and advance BlackRock’s broader data strategy.

Your responsibilities

In every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies with the rigor to challenge the results. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of data professionals, managing capacity, priorities, performance, and development while fostering accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, inclusion, and operational excellence.
  • Oversee the setup, maintenance, validation, and governance of security, transaction, market, and accounting data, ensuring its integrity, completeness, and accuracy across asset classes and data sources.
  • Provide operational oversight of data pipelines, automated processes, exception management, and reconciliations, strengthening controls and issue-management practices to reduce operational risk.
  • Partner with technology teams to improve data architecture, workflows, and straight-through-processing capabilities while identifying opportunities to automate, standardize, and simplify operational processes.
  • Partner across Investment Accounting, Operations, Technology, Product, and Client Service to address complex data inquiries, identify root causes, and coordinate timely resolution across stakeholder groups.
  • Support client onboarding, data migrations, and new implementations while building effective relationships with investment managers, custodians, market-data vendors, and other service providers.
  • Lead and contribute to strategic initiatives focused on scalability, data quality, operating-model transformation, and platform modernization, using metrics and operational insights to improve efficiency, capacity planning, and service delivery.

Your experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field, with strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication capabilities.
  • Eight or more years of relevant experience in investment operations, investment accounting, data management, or financial services, including experience leading teams or complex operational processes.
  • Strong understanding of fixed income, equity, derivative, and alternative investments, with experience using accounting platforms, portfolio-management systems, or investment-operations workflows.
  • Knowledge of investment accounting, fund accounting, regulatory reporting, or outsourced accounting operations, together with familiarity with data governance, data quality, risk management, and operational-control frameworks.
  • Experience with Aladdin or comparable investment-management platforms, plus working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL), data analysis, automation, data-engineering concepts, and Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, navigate ambiguity and change, influence stakeholders across functions and levels, and take ownership of high-quality outcomes.
  • Experience leading process automation or operational-transformation initiatives, supported by a continuous-improvement mindset and a commitment to scalable solutions, innovation, collaboration, and client-service excellence.
