Incubation Software Engineer

Summary

Description

We are looking for a strong frameworks & applications engineer to help build exploratory software experiences and technical foundations for future Apple products. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of engineering, prototyping, and product exploration. You will design and develop applications, frameworks, and system spaces across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro, Watch and future platforms. The work often involves close collaboration with interaction designers, AI/ML prototypers, and software engineers to create intelligent experiences, evaluate emerging technologies, and explore new interaction models. Successful candidates are comfortable navigating ambiguity, iterating quickly, and balancing strong engineering fundamentals with a prototyping mindset.

Responsibilities

- Evaluate and prototype emerging technologies and investigate new interaction models.
- Rapidly iterate on concepts and incorporate feedback from the team and cross-functional partners.
- Deeply evaluate future technologies and explore experiences that they enable, or could enable.
- Build exploratory applications, frameworks, and system experiences.
- Communicate and share product prototypes and learnings across disciplines.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong software engineering fundamentals and systems design skills.
Experience developing applications or frameworks using Apple technologies.
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in ambiguous and exploratory environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Expertise in Swift/SwiftUI and Objective-C
Experience developing across multiple Apple platforms.
Strong product intuition and an appreciation for interaction design.
Knowledge of Apple frameworks including UIKit, AppKit, Vision, and others.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,400 and $277,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
