Senior Analyst, Global Trade Compliance 

Location: Eindhoven, Netherlands (hybrid preferred).  

Remote candidates based elsewhere in the Netherlands may also be considered - travel to the Eindhoven site required minimum once per month.  

Candidates based in the United Kingdom will also be considered on a remote basis.  

 

The Opportunity 

 

As a Senior Analyst, Global Trade Compliance, you will support and strengthen Illumina's trade compliance operations across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). You will ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, sanctions frameworks, and import/export controls while partnering with stakeholders across the business to support compliant cross-border operations. 

 

Working closely with Logistics, Legal, Procurement, Sales, Supply Chain, Customs Brokers, and third-party logistics providers, you will help drive operational excellence and maintain alignment with global trade compliance policies and standards. 


What You'll Do 


  • Support the execution of regional trade compliance programmes across EMEA 
  • Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, customs laws, sanctions requirements, and export controls 
  • Partner with internal teams and external customs brokers to facilitate compliant cross-border transactions 
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact across EMEA jurisdictions 
  • Support compliance reviews, audits, and corrective action activities 
  • Investigate and resolve customs and trade-related issues, including shipment delays and documentation discrepancies 
  • Prepare compliance reports, metrics, and documentation for management and regulatory requirements 
  • Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational efficiencies within trade compliance 
  • Support trade compliance training and awareness programmes 
  • Collaborate with global trade compliance colleagues to ensure regional alignment with corporate policies and standards 

What We're Looking For 


  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Business, Law, Finance, or a related discipline 
  • Experience in trade compliance, customs, import/export operations, or global trade management 
  • Strong understanding of EMEA customs regulations, export controls, sanctions, licensing requirements, and international trade regulations 
  • Practical experience with tariff classification, customs valuation, origin determination, and customs broker management 
  • Knowledge of EU dual-use regulations, UK export controls, and sanctions compliance frameworks is advantageous 
  • Experience working within multinational and matrixed organisations 
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills 
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems; SAP GTS experience is highly desirable 
  • Professional trade compliance or customs certifications are beneficial 
  • Fluent English communication skills

The estimated base salary range for the Senior Analyst Global Trade Compliance role based in Netherlands is EUR 52,300 - 78,500. The range reflects long‑term growth in the role; therefore, most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. This salary range applies to the primary posting location listed above. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range will be updated accordingly. Compensation ranges for other locations will differ to reflect local market competitiveness and will be shared with candidates if applicable during the recruitment process. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
