The Risk Mgnt Country Officer is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Typically a small number of people within the business that provide the same level of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Accountable for significant direct business results or authoritative advice regarding the operations of the business. Necessitates a degree of responsibility over technical strategy. Primarily affects a sub-function. Responsible for handling staff management issues, including resource management and allocation of work within the team/project.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as the single point of contact for franchise-level risk matters relating to the businesses operating in the country, and for providing risk management partnership to Citi Country Officers (CEOs/CCOs).
- Represents the interests of Citigroup as a whole. Partnering with the CEOs/CCOs, with focus on risk-management related regulatory matters,
- Responsible for ensuring the timely escalation and resolution of franchise-level risk issues.
- Serves as Country's lead risk manager for franchise level risk issues
- Produce credit and exposure analyses to ensure aggregate risk exposure to customers remains appropriate to credit standing
- Ensures the risk oversight at the legal vehicle and subsidiaries level especially when used by more than a single product group
- Identifies and co-champions cross sector/product utilities to deliver synergies and improve quality of risk mgmt support
- Coordinates identification, sharing and vetting of common risk concerns and sensitivities and develop coordinated solutions as appropriate (e.g. adverse developments in local regulatory and political landscape, deterioration in industry lending practices, etc.)
- Interact directly with Credit Review Function (BICR), Internal Audit and banking regulators during their periodic and ad-hoc reviews.
- Facilitates/coordinates responses to inquiries/requests from regulators
- Ensures involvement of the appropriate local risk experts in vetting and resolving regulatory issues
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience
- Advanced degree (e.g. JD, MBA) preferred
- Expertise of Compliance laws, rules, regulations, risks and typologies
- Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills Must be a self-starter, flexible, innovative and adaptive Highly motivated
- Proven ability to guide decision-making processes and implement technical solutions effectively.
- In-depth conceptual/practical grounding in the function and/or expertise in related subject areas
- Fully Bilingual (Spanish & English)
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
