Description

As a Senior Voice Platform Software Engineer, you will play a key role in architecting, developing, and operating scalable voice infrastructure and real-time communication services used in high-volume customer interaction environments. You will work on technologies related to SIP signaling, media handling, WebRTC, distributed systems, and cloud-native platform development. This role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, deep technical expertise, and the ability to drive complex initiatives across multiple teams. You will contribute to platform architecture, scalability, resiliency, and operational excellence while mentoring engineers and influencing the technical direction of the platform

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of scalable voice and real-time communication platform components
Drive architecture and technical design discussions for SIP signaling, media processing, routing, and session management services
Develop high-performance backend services using C or C++
Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to voice quality, signaling, media flows, scalability, and distributed systems
Collaborate across platform, infrastructure, client, and product engineering teams to deliver end-to-end communication solutions
Improve platform scalability, resiliency, observability, automation, and operational efficiency
Mentor engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and code reviews
Contribute to long-term platform strategy, reliability initiatives, and production operational excellence
Drive testing, deployment automation, monitoring, and incident response improvements for voice platform services

Minimum Qualifications

5+ years of software development experience using C or C++
Experience with real-time communication platforms such as FreeSWITCH, Kamailio, Asterisk, or similar technologies
Strong experience developing scalable backend or distributed systems software
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS, load balancing, and distributed system concepts
Experience with SIP, RTP, and VoIP technologies
Experience troubleshooting production systems and operating highly available services at scale
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with WebRTC and modern real-time communication architectures
Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
Experience with scalable event-driven systems and distributed infrastructure technologies such as Kafka or Redis
Experience driving technical design discussions and mentoring engineers across teams

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $184,700 and $277,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
