We are looking for a high-impact Strategic Account Director to accelerate Microsoft’s growth with leading pharmaceutical and life sciences customers in the US market. This role will focus on building trusted executive relationships, identifying new transformation opportunities, and positioning Microsoft as a strategic partner across cloud, AI, data, security, and industry innovation.
The ideal candidate is a resilient, customer-obsessed “hunter” who can open new doors, navigate complex enterprise environments, and translate business priorities into high-value technology partnerships. You will work closely with global and local account teams to shape account strategy, drive executive engagement, and build qualified pipeline across R&D, commercial, diagnostics, manufacturing, and digital transformation stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Build and deepen executive relationships across priority pharma and life sciences accounts in the US market.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across Azure, AI, data platforms, security, business applications, and industry solutions.
- Drive strategic account planning in close partnership with global account teams, technical specialists, partners, and customer success teams.
- Reposition Microsoft as a core strategic partner in competitive environments where AWS, Google, or other providers have established influence.
- Create and progress qualified pipeline by uncovering high-value transformation initiatives tied to AI, data estates, cloud modernization, research acceleration, diagnostics, and commercial innovation.
- Lead onsite executive engagement and relationship-building activities to strengthen trust, sponsorship, and long-term partnership.
- Bring disciplined account governance, forecast accuracy, and deal orchestration across complex stakeholder groups.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience working in an industry (e.g., financial services, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, government, education, technology) and/or driving digital transformation OR Master's Degree AND 9+ years experience working in an industry (e.g., financial services, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, government, education, technology) and/or driving digital transformation OR 13+ years experience in working in an industry (e.g., financial services, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, government, education, technology) and/or driving digital transformation OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years experience making recommendations to and/or collaborating with mid-to-senior level executives.
- 8+ years experience closing large, complex agreements/deals.

Additional or preferred qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 13+ years experience working in an industry (e.g., financial services, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, government, education, technology) and/or driving digital transformation OR Master's Degree AND 11+ years experience working in an industry (e.g., financial services, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, government, education, technology) and/or driving digital transformation OR equivalent experience.
- Enterprise sales or strategic account management experience in pharma, life sciences, or healthcare.
- Proven ability to build C-level and senior executive relationships.
- Understanding of cloud, AI, data, security, and digital transformation business value.
- Demonstrated success developing new pipeline, displacing competitors, and driving strategic growth in large enterprise accounts.
- High resilience, ownership mindset, and ability to operate in ambiguity.
- Effective collaboration skills across account teams, technical teams, partners, and global stakeholders.
- Ability to travel regularly and engage customers onsite across key US locations.
Strategic Account Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,000 - $222,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $170,300 - $239,800 per year.
