Overview

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud.  Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) organization is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.

The Senior Manager, Procurement planning provides dedicated ownership of AMER inventory governance and portfolio risk management. The role connects inventory visibility, utilization and reduction activities with weekly execution governance, ensuring risks are identified, quantified, assigned, mitigated and escalated through a repeatable operating rhythm. This role is designed to move inventory and risk management from fragmented, reactive follow-up to disciplined, cross-functional execution with clear accountability and executive visibility.

Responsibilities

Inventory Governance & Optimization

  • Own the tracking and governance of CAPEX storage, on-hand and unallocated inventory across the AMER portfolio.

  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional inventory utilization reviews, fungibility assessments, allocation governance and consumption prioritization.

  • Drive inventory reduction initiatives focused on stranded, aging, excess and obsolescence exposure.

  • Support inventory audits, data reconciliation and accountability for inventory disposition decisions.

Portfolio Risk Management & Governance

  • Operate a repeatable portfolio risk framework covering identification, quantification, ownership, mitigation, escalation and closure.

  • Integrate demand, supply, signal changes, supplier recovery, inventory and data-integrity risks into a consolidated view.

  • Maintain mitigation plans, reason-code discipline, and decision logs across execution activities.

  • Identify systemic themes and emerging risks, translating operational detail into decision-ready executive insights.

  • Coordinate escalations with accountable stakeholders and monitor corrective actions through closure.

S&OE and Cross-Functional Execution

  • Facilitate the weekly AMER S&OE operating rhythm, including agenda development, pre-read preparation, risk review, decisions and follow-up.

  • Connect weekly execution issues to Regional priorities, including capacity readiness, and inventory positioning.

  • Maintain integrated action tracking across inventory, risk and execution workstreams.

  • Partner with Planning, Procurement, Engineering, DCE, Project Controls and site execution teams to resolve constraints and clarify ownership.

  • Develop playbooks, standard work and process documentation that improve consistency and scalability.
