The Credit Risk Portfolio Sr Analyst role oversees portfolio risk management activities to minimize credit losses and potential damage to the Citigroup franchise or reputation. The role includes developing business strategies, calculating CECL reserves, conducting stress tests, loss forecasts, and managing risk appetite for the First Line of Defense (1LOD). For the Second Line of Defense (2LOD), the role involves providing effective oversight and periodic review and challenge of 1LOD portfolio management processes and outcomes. Individuals in this role ensure credit risk is managed effectively across all portfolios, protecting the company's financial stability and reputation while supporting the overall business strategy.


Responsibilities: 

  • Review credit portfolio limits and conduct stress testing, ensuring all operations are within defined limits.
  • Perform regular portfolio analysis and updates, monitoring performance and making necessary adjustments.
  • Interpret limits governance and manage single name and distribution risk activities, ensuring effective risk management.
  • Maintain portfolio health through regular reviews, ensuring the portfolio's performance meets the strategic goals.
  • Critically review credit loss forecasts and allowance calculations, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Provide input for credit reviews and approvals alongside the Senior Risk Management team, monitoring portfolio health, and identifying credit migration trends early.
  • Enhance procedures and workflows by leveraging industry expertise, creating more efficient processes within Risk Management.
  • Utilize statistical scoring, segmentation, regression, and simulation techniques for credit and financial performance analysis, providing actionable insights.
  • Leverage the Statistical Analysis System (SAS) in a UNIX environment for risk, financial, and data analysis, ensuring accurate profiling, sampling, reconciliation, and quality testing of data.
  • Escalate, manage, and report control issues transparently, adhering strictly to the company's policy and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Monitor and enhance compliance processes for credit portfolio limits, ensuring all operations are within acceptable risk appetite levels.
  • Improve first line of defense processes for portfolio management, enhancing efficiency and accuracy of operations.

Recommended Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience
  • Good knowledge in credit risk management, credit review and approval, and portfolio management to oversee, review, and challenge the first line of defense.
  • Data analysis as a key skill for effective risk mitigation and assessment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and credit policies in the financial industry.
  • Experience in developing, testing, and optimizing credit, policies as well as implementing risk management processes and initiatives.
  • Ability to manage risk across various products and portfolios.
  • Exceptional ethical judgment and a strong understanding of laws, rules, and regulations in the financial industry.
  • Proven experience in project management and process improvement within a risk management context.
  • Comprehensive understanding of various risk factors including stress testing, collateral risk and volatility, concentration risks, liquidity, and wrong way risk, with demonstrated experience in reviewing these factors and challenging any discrepancies.
  • Analyze  complex data sets, identifying patterns, and using this knowledge to oversee, review, and challenge the first line of defense.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for effectively articulating thoughts, ideas, and policies to various stakeholders, crucial in challenging existing policies and processes.
  • High level of organization for planning, coordinating, and executing projects from start to completion within set timeframes, integral to overseeing the first line of defense.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster productive relationships and collaborate towards common goals, important in engaging with various teams to review and challenge risk management processes.
  • Familiarity with risk management software and other industry-specific tools for efficient data management and analysis.
  • Skilled in analyzing extensive data, extracting insights, and combining these with professional judgment to make informed decisions, crucial in challenging the first line of defense.
  • Capability to adapt to unexpected situations or changes in regulatory policies, demonstrating resilience and a commitment to continuous learning and development.
