We are looking for an experienced and ambitious Associate Manager to join our UK Life Sciences R&D practice, bringing a combination of Life Sciences industry knowledge, technology-enabled transformation experience and strong programme delivery capability. The role sits at the intersection of business consulting and technology programme delivery, with Pharmaceutical experience expected and adjacent Life Sciences sector experience (e.g. MedTech) an advantage.

Our Team

The Life Sciences industry is experiencing a period of unprecedented change. Rapid shifts in R&D, technology, data and AI are transforming the ways Life Sciences organisations work across the product lifecycle to develop and commercialise innovation. We are at the forefront of this change, helping the world’s largest Life Sciences companies achieve sustainable and profitable growth by transforming their businesses across the value chain to become more patient-centric, data-driven and operationally agile: ultimately, getting new products to patients faster. We help our clients deliver lasting impact by driving excellence from strategy development through to implementation. At Accenture, our purpose is to deliver on the promise of technology and human ingenuity.

As we are experiencing unprecedented growth, we are looking for exceptional individuals to join our team of passionate Life Sciences R&D practitioners. As part of this team, you will learn, grow and advance in an innovative culture that thrives on shared success, diverse ways of thinking and enables boundaryless opportunities that can drive your career in new and exciting ways. You will have an opportunity to make an impact on organisations that touch billions of lives every day.

We are seeking an experienced Associate Manager to join the UK Life Sciences Industry & Enterprise team. This is a delivery role owning defined workstreams or projects within complex Life Sciences R&D transformation and technical programmes, with the opportunity to work across business, technology, data and functional teams. A background in the Pharmaceutical sector is required, while adjacent sector experience (e.g. MedTech) would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will combine strong project and technical programme delivery experience with stakeholder management, people leadership and technology fluency, taking ownership of workstreams and coordinating multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

In our team, you will drive:

  • Delivery of a defined workstream or project within complex, multi-workstream R&D transformation and technical programmes across our Life Sciences client base
  • Trusted client relationships at Manager and Senior Manager level, leading status reporting and stakeholder discussions on your area of ownership
  • Coordination and development of junior colleagues supporting your workstream
  • Accurate governance, reporting and risk and issue management across your area of ownership
  • Contribution to the wider Life Sciences R&D practice through proposals, methodology, thought leadership, assets and continuous improvement

In our Life Sciences Industry & Enterprise team you will gain exposure to:

  • The most strategic challenges and opportunities that occupy the minds of industry leaders
  • Cutting edge research and thought leadership that is defining the future of the industry
  • Structured problem-solving techniques to enable our clients to transform their businesses
  • A global network of highly skilled, geographically and culturally diverse people
  • A world-class training curriculum that helps you continuously upskill yourself as the world changes
  • A culture that encourages innovation, collaboration, enterprise, and a lot of fun!

As a Life Sciences Associate Manager, you will:

  • Own the delivery of defined workstreams or projects within complex Life Sciences R&D transformation and technical programmes, from planning through to implementation.
  • Apply structured problem-solving and consulting approaches to understand client challenges, develop insights and translate them into practical recommendations and delivery plans.
  • Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders, leading discussions, workshops and status reviews within your area of responsibility.
  • Lead workstream or project governance, proactively managing plans, risks, issues, dependencies, resources and delivery quality.
  • Translate business and R&D requirements into executable solutions and coordinate delivery across business, technology, data, architecture and third-party teams.
  • Support technical programme management across complex transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment between business outcomes, technology delivery and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate and provide day-to-day leadership to junior colleagues, supporting their development through coaching, feedback and mentoring.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary Accenture teams, bringing together industry, technology, data and delivery perspectives to solve client problems.
  • Contribute to business development by identifying potential opportunities and supporting proposals, client pitches and the shaping of new work.
  • Contribute to the continued growth of the R&D practice through development of propositions, methodologies, assets, thought leadership and knowledge sharing.

We are looking for you if you have:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience delivering projects or workstreams within complex transformation or technology programmes in the Pharmaceutical or broader Life Sciences industry.
  • Good understanding of the Life Sciences R&D environment, with experience in one or more areas of R&D
  • Experience delivering business and/or technical programmes, with the ability to coordinate across business, technology, data and third-party teams.
  • Strong project and programme delivery capability, including planning, governance, dependency management, risk and issue management, resourcing and stakeholder communication.
  • Strong consulting and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex challenges and develop practical recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to build trusted relationships and work effectively with senior client stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating, coaching or providing day-to-day leadership to junior team members.
  • Strong technology and data fluency, with an understanding of how cloud, data, digital platforms and AI can enable the reinvention of Life Sciences R&D.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex topics clearly and effectively.
  • A collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset, with an interest in contributing to client development, proposals and the continued growth of our R&D practice.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience. An advanced degree is advantageous but not essential.

Desirable experience:

  • Experience delivering technology-enabled transformation or technical programme management within Life Sciences R&D.
  • Experience with data, cloud or enterprise technology platforms, including areas such as data engineering, data platforms, cloud technologies such as Azure, systems integration or enterprise architecture.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies, including Generative AI, and their potential application within Life Sciences R&D.
