About the role
Original posting provided by amazon
In this role, you'll own complex, multi-territory negotiations with major manufacturers and marquee retail partners — structuring deals that balance creative integrity with commercial ambition. You'll build multi-year franchise roadmaps, identify untapped opportunities before anyone else sees them, and partner across content, marketing, retail, and legal to launch merchandise programs that fans love and that drive meaningful growth. You'll also mentor the next generation of licensing talent and represent our business in senior leadership reviews and external partner summits.
If you thrive on navigating ambiguity, building partnerships that matter, and making data-driven decisions that shape the future of a global licensing portfolio, we want to hear from you.
Key job responsibilities
Strategic Deal Structuring & Negotiation
-Lead complex, multi-territory licensing negotiations with major manufacturers and strategic retail partners
-Structure deals encompassing royalty rates, minimum guarantees, advance payments, and performance milestones
-Negotiate renewal terms and drive expansion opportunities with existing partners to grow revenue and portfolio breadth
Franchise Strategy Development
-Manage a portfolio of strategic titles and franchise licensing partnerships
-Build multi-year licensing roadmaps aligned with content release schedules, marketing campaigns, and audience growth targets
-Identify untapped category opportunities and prioritize expansion based on audience insights and competitive analysis
-Lead cross-functional franchise planning sessions with content, marketing, retail, and legal teams
Data-Driven Insight & AI-Enabled Decision-Making
-Leverage data analysis, business intelligence tools, and dashboards to identify licensing opportunities, forecast revenue, and measure partner impact
-Apply AI tools to accelerate deal analysis, market research, and reporting workflows, and champion automation that improves team efficiency
-Use AI/ML-driven insights (e.g., audience segmentation, product and category trends) to inform franchise strategy and portfolio decisions
Partner Performance & Portfolio Management
-Establish KPIs and performance benchmarks for licensing partners; conduct quarterly business reviews with top accounts
-Drive growth through proactive portfolio optimization across product categories, price points, and distribution channels
-Manage underperforming partnerships, including escalation planning, remediation strategies, and termination when required
Team Leadership & Mentorship
-Mentor and coach junior team members on deal negotiation, partner management, and franchise strategy best practices
-Contribute to team processes, operational playbooks, and best-practice documentation to drive consistency and efficiency
-Represent the licensing team in cross-functional planning meetings, senior leadership reviews, and external partner summits
A day in the life
No two days look the same in Consumer Products Licensing. You might start your morning in a quarterly business review with a top apparel licensee, and map the next wave of product launches to an upcoming season premiere. By midday, you're deep in a negotiation — structuring minimum guarantees and territory rights for a multi-market toy deal — then pivoting to a cross-functional franchise planning session where you align content, marketing, and retail partners around a shared roadmap. In the afternoon, you might review product designs for brand and creative consistency, coach a teammate through a tricky partner conversation, and prepare a crisp recommendation for senior leadership on an untapped category opportunity you've identified. You move fluidly between strategic thinking and hands-on execution, always anchored in data and the fan experience.
