Why Genentech

We advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love.

Innovating for a healthier future is our driving force. The Darmanis and Regev labs are seeking a creative, rigorous, and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to focus on technology development at the forefront of functional genomics, developing single-cell, CRISPR-based genetic perturbation screens and multi-omic technologies. You will engage with scientific collaborators across the community to solve fundamental biological questions and publish high-impact science.

The Opportunity

  • Spearhead the design, development, and optimization of novel technologies for single-cell multi-omics, with a primary focus on high-throughput CRISPR genetic perturbation screens.
  • Interpret and analyze complex single-cell genomics data using a variety of analytical methods and AI-based approaches.
  • Collaborate with academic and scientific partners to advance novel technological platforms.
  • Publish primary research in high-impact, peer-reviewed scientific journals and present scientific findings at internal seminars and international conferences.

Who You Are

  • Education: PhD (or near completion) in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Core Technical Expertise: Strong background in molecular biology, genomics, cell biology, or bioengineering, with a demonstrated ability or enthusiasm to learn and apply single-cell multi-omic assays or CRISPR-based technologies.
  • Sequencing Experience: Proficient in standard molecular biology techniques and NGS library preparation downstream of single-cell assays, with exposure to short- and long-read sequencing platforms.
  • Data Analysis: Working knowledge of or proficiency in computational genomics analysis using R and/or Python.
  • Publication Record: Demonstrated track record of scientific productivity, evidenced by first-author publications, preprints, or patent applications.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and an eagerness to thrive in a collaborative research environment.
