Microsoft’s Commercial Engineering & AI organization is seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead strategic AI, agent, data, and insight products that improve Microsoft’s commercial and customer experiences. This role sits within the Data Science and Applied AI team within Commercial Engineering & AI.
This hands-on product leadership role owns complex initiatives from customer problem and product strategy through experimentation, scaled delivery, and measurable impact. You will set direction across organizational boundaries, build partner relationships, and create the clarity and operating cadence needed to deliver trusted, AI-native experiences.

Responsibilities
- Define product strategy, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes for AI agents, evaluation and observability, data products, machine learning systems and intelligent commercial experiences.
- Drive a cross-enterprise engineering &AI portfolio, establishing clear ownership, milestones, decision paths, and operating rhythms across product, engineering, and data science.
- Translate customer and business needs into product requirements; prototype, experiment, learn quickly, and scale successful solutions.
- Shape Microsoft platform requirements and influence partner roadmaps to close critical capability gaps.
- Use telemetry, evaluations, experimentation, and customer signals to improve product quality, adoption, reliability, and responsible operation.
- Build alignment with senior technical and business leaders and drive complex initiatives across Microsoft.

Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in product, service, project, or program management, software development, data/AI, or equivalent experience.
- OR equivalent experience.
- 3+ years people management experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 15+ years experience in product, service, project, or program management, software development, data/AI, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years people management experience.
- 6+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).
- 8+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
- 8+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g.,. competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).
- Experience taking complex technology products from strategy through delivery and measurable adoption.
- Experience setting direction and influencing across engineering, product, data science, and senior leadership.
- Experience building AI/ML, generative AI, agentic, data, cloud, or large-scale enterprise products.
- Experience with AI product development, including evaluation, telemetry, experimentation, governance, and responsible deployment.
- Experience creating clarity and changing organizational momentum in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Experience presenting to/engaging with technical stakeholders effectively.

Product Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $165,600 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.
