About the role
Original posting provided by amazon
Amazon Quick is growing and we need senior Software Development Engineers who move fast, break down and solve complex problems, and have a strong will to get things done. This is an opportunity to lead technical direction on an experienced team of AWS engineers working on services within the skills, web search and catalog space, with a high degree of visibility across Amazon Quick and the broader AWS organization.
As a senior engineer on this team, you will lead technical direction across the services that power agentic resource authoring, discovery, publishing, versioning, and organization-level administration. Your design decisions will determine how customers build, browse, install, and share AI-powered agentic resources across their companies. If you want to solve real distributed-systems problems on a product that is actively changing how organizations use AI, this is the role for you.
What makes this role special?
- You will own high-visibility services at the core of Amazon Quick, with the scope to shape their architecture and direction.
- You will solve hard problems in distributed systems, data platforms, and marketplace infrastructure, at AWS scale.
- You will lead and grow a strong engineering team, leaving a lasting mark on both the people and the technology.
- You will build on AWS, the platform that defines the cloud industry, and ship features that reach customers around the world.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical direction of multiple distributed services, balancing reliability, scalability, performance, and cost.
- Lead large, ambiguous, cross-team initiatives from design through launch and production operation.
- Set and raise engineering standards across the team — code quality, design reviews, operational excellence, testing, and secure-by-design practices.
- Build and operate the infrastructure for Enterprise Data Platforms, applying modern distributed systems, data streaming, and data management best practices.
- Build the platforms that instrument key data, surface data quality issues, and provide data lineage and visibility, working with product owners and engineers across the company.
- Improve the reliability, performance, and operational posture of the team's services, including on-call leadership and incident response.
- Communicate clearly with teams and stakeholders, escalate issues at the right time, and resolve conflicts.
- Mentor and grow engineers, raising their technical depth and multiplying the team's impact.
- Set technical strategy within the team and influence technology across Amazon Quick and beyond.
