Overview

At Mojang Studios, the creators of Minecraft, we are on a mission to build a better world through the power of play.

Why play? Well, play is at the heart of everything we do. It’s the blocky backbone of our games, the core of our development philosophy, and even the origin of our name. From the relentless experimentation of our endlessly inspiring community to the classrooms where Minecraft has become an essential teaching tool, play is the bedrock of our existence.

We enable millions to create and play together, connect people across the globe, and foster a community that is among the most active and passionate in the world. Our community is global and incredibly diverse. When we are developing anything within our franchise, we keep this in mind. We want everyone to not only feel included in Minecraft, but also to see themselves in what we make. Our goal is for the Mojang Studios team to be as diverse as our community.

The Mojang team is looking for a Principal Product Manager to develop the vision, roadmap, and execution of Minecraft's commerce ecosystem across web, marketplace, subscriptions, payments, partner payouts, and creator monetization. You will partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Studio Leadership to deliver scalable commerce capabilities that drive revenue growth and improve the customer experience. In this role you'll be evaluating and evolving the end-to-end commerce platform, including payments, entitlements, catalog services, subscriptions, and transaction systems. You'll identify and execute opportunities that increase business agility, unlock new monetization models, and reduce platform constraints. The ideal candidate brings deep product management expertise and a proven track record in digital commerce, marketplaces, payments, and platform strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Define and own the long-term commerce strategy and roadmap for Minecraft across web, marketplace, game clients, subscriptions, currencies, and future monetization platforms.
  • Lead evaluation, planning, and execution of next-generation commerce platform initiatives, including payment providers, transaction systems, entitlement management, catalog management, creator payout models, and partner ecosystems.
  • Create and maintain a holistic view of Minecraft's transaction ecosystem, documenting dependencies, capabilities, risks, opportunities, and future-state architecture.
  • Lead discovery and assessment of external commerce solutions, payment providers, and marketplace technologies to determine strategic fit and value realization.
  • Partner with technical teams to define requirements for catalog services, entitlement systems, subscription management, creator monetization capabilities, partner payouts, onboarding experiences, and commerce operations.
  • Establish success metrics and key performance indicators focused on revenue growth, commerce conversion, platform efficiency, customer experience, and operational scalability.
  • Influence stakeholders across multiple organizations and disciplines to align on long-term commerce investments and execution priorities.
  • Support near-term commerce initiatives that improve marketing effectiveness, purchasing experiences, and customer acquisition while advancing long-term platform goals.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 6+ years’ experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product)
  • 4+ years’ experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years’ experience in product/service/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 6+ years’ experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn)

In the end, it’s the people of Mojang Studios that make this place truly special. When you join, you’ll find yourself in the company of incredibly bright, warm, and creative individuals – all united and working toward a single goal. Come help us reach it!
