Job Description
 

Executive Director, Gilead Patient Solutions (GPS)

The Gilead Patient Solutions (GPS) organization enables patient access to Gilead's life-saving medicines across 139 resource-limited countries through innovative, sustainable partnerships that address unmet patient needs.

Reporting to the Vice President, Gilead Patient Solutions, the Executive Director, GPS will play a critical leadership role in advancing sustainable access to Gilead's therapies across key international markets. The role will have responsibility for distributor-led markets and will oversee a functional team directly managing commercial partnerships and distributor relationships.

The position provides strategic and operational leadership across:

  • South and Southeast Asia
  • Central Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa (MENA)
  • Latin America

The Executive Director will build and maintain strong relationships with commercial partners, governmental agencies, and supranational organizations while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, including Global Marketing, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Public Affairs, Government Affairs, Market Access, and Supply Chain.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Market Access

  • Drive sustainable patient access and business growth across Gilead's therapeutic areas within GPS markets.
  • Develop and execute strategies that expand access to life-saving medicines while ensuring long-term commercial sustainability.
  • Lead the organization through a complex and dynamic operating environment, translating strategy into measurable results.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Provide vision, leadership, and direction to inspire high-performing teams and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Partner with global functions to coordinate initiatives that impact business performance, patient outcomes, and Gilead's corporate reputation.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to evaluate market opportunities and develop business cases for the launch of HIV, HBV, and HCV products, as well as future pipeline assets.

Commercial Excellence

  • Oversee distributor strategy, governance, and performance management across the region.
  • Ensure effective integration of commercial planning, launch readiness, sales support, and marketing activities to maximize market impact.
  • Drive operational excellence through robust processes, performance metrics, and business insights.

External Engagement and Communications

  • Strengthen Gilead's position as a leader in innovative patient solutions within resource-limited settings.
  • Support the development of strategic communications, presentations, and narratives that showcase Gilead's partnerships, impact, and commitment to global health.
  • Represent Gilead with key external stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, multilateral organizations, and commercial partners.

Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure all business activities are conducted in accordance with Gilead's Code of Conduct and applicable compliance policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success leading large, complex projects across multiple functions, regions, and stakeholders.
  • Proven experience building, developing, and leading high-performing teams while fostering talent development and career growth.
  • Strong track record of driving organizational transformation and enhancing capabilities through the implementation of effective processes, systems, and performance metrics.
  • Extensive pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience, including distributor management, regional or global commercial leadership, portfolio management, and lifecycle management.
  • Ability to establish a clear strategic vision and influence diverse stakeholders across organizational boundaries.
  • Experience leading cross-functional collaboration across commercial, supply chain, regulatory, market access, medical, and marketing functions.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 60% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Significant experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, particularly in international commercial operations, market access, health economics, reimbursement, public policy, or related disciplines.
  • Experience working in emerging markets and collaborating with non-governmental, multilateral, or supranational organizations is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
