Digital Finance Transformation Manager

Career level: Manager (CL7)  |  Location: London / Manchester / Edinburgh  |  Practice: Finance Reinvention Partner (Platform Transformation)

Why this role

This is where a finance-transformation manager takes ownership of the design in front of the client. You'll lead the finance design on major transformation programmes: running the discovery, settling the process and enterprise-structure decisions everything downstream depends on, and holding the line on them with finance leadership. Much of that work sits where systems meet: where the finance core hands off to consolidation, planning and reporting, and where the enterprise structure has to hold across all of them. You advise on the right finance technology and target operating model for the problem, whatever the client runs, and you grow from here into a design authority clients ask for by name.

Accenture is a leading solutions and services company. Our strategy is to be the reinvention partner of choice for our clients and lead in the safe, widespread adoption of AI. Finance is one of seven Reinvention Partners at the centre of that, bringing the CFO agenda to life for clients: stronger performance, sharper insight, and better control.

"Our clients want a partner that can help them reinvent—boldly, continuously and at speed… while continuously building the most client-focused, AI-enabled great place to work for our people—our Reinventors." — Julie Sweet, Chair and CEO

What you'll bring

Fit-to-standard and finance process design. You lead fit-to-standard and process design across the core finance processes (Record-to-Report, Order-to-Cash, Purchase-to-Pay and Acquire-to-Retire) and across general accounting, close and consolidation, external and management reporting, intercompany, finance master data and finance controls. You take a client's requirements, run a structured fit-gap, and turn the result into a process design the business will run. That design closes faster, reports with more confidence, and strengthens control. Where the client wants something the standard doesn't do, you're the person who works out whether the answer is to change the process or change the design, and can argue either case on its merits.

Enterprise structure and chart of accounts. You can design and defend the finance backbone: legal-entity and company-code structure, ledgers, the controlling and profit-centre model, cost-centre and hierarchy design, and the chart of accounts across it. These decisions are expensive to revisit once a programme is moving, so you'll bring a point of view: what the reporting and statutory requirements demand, where a dimension serves better than an account, and how the structure holds as the group changes shape.

Finance design authority and senior stakeholder management. You own the design end to end in front of the client: chairing the design conversations, bringing options and a recommendation, writing the decision papers and driving them to closure. You work directly with finance leadership, from controllers and FP&A leads to process owners and the CFO's team, taking a contested design point, explaining the trade-off in business terms and getting an answer. You set the design standard for the finance workstream and coach the consultants around you.

Technology selection, vendor assessment and the value case. You lead technology selection and vendor assessment: framing the criteria, comparing platforms against what the client needs, and building a defensible recommendation and roadmap. You own the value case and business case behind it: the benefits, the cost of the change, and how the return on a platform investment gets tracked once the programme starts, argued in the terms a CFO signs off against.

AI in finance processes, and in how we deliver. You'll bring a working fluency in what AI is doing to the finance function, enough to hold a credible conversation with finance leadership: where it changes a process, whether reconciliations, close tasks, intercompany matching or forecasting, where it does not yet, and what has to be true of the data and controls first. You design AI-enabled ways of working into the target process: what an agent runs, what a person approves, where the human check and the audit trail sit. The same judgement applies to how we work. We're increasingly an AI-first delivery team, and you decide where AI-augmented delivery earns its place and what the team reuses. If your AI experience is newer than the rest of your track record, tell us what you've done with it.

Platform literacy and integration judgement. You've delivered on enterprise finance platform programmes (SAP, Oracle or comparable finance platforms) and you understand how one runs: how a design gets built, what "standard" means in practice, and what a technology decision costs downstream. Finance rarely sits on one system, so you can work through how the finance core connects to what surrounds it: the master data that has to agree, the interfaces between them, and the reporting layer reading from both. Where a process crosses that boundary, you design it to hold on both sides.

Target operating model and design-thinking delivery. You shape the operating model around the design: how the finance function, its shared-services or GBS arrangements and its process ownership need to work once the platform lands. You facilitate design-thinking workshops, co-develop solutions with the client in the room, and secure design decisions in an agile, iterative way, not through documents alone.

Shaping the work. At this level you start to see the next piece of work before anyone asks for it. You'll spot where a client has an unaddressed problem, shape a proposition around it with the team, and contribute to how we position and solution it. Origination and deal shaping are part of the Manager trajectory here, not something reserved for the level above.

Who you are

You take ownership and follow through, and you're comfortable being the person the client turns to when a design decision is stuck. You work well with ambiguity in a complex finance organisation and can hold a clear view without needing to win the room. You lead a team well, build trusted relationships across a client's management, and manage expectations and timelines when more is asked of the design than it can carry. You're closely engaged with what AI is changing in finance: you've formed your own view, and can advise a client on it instead of repeating what a vendor told them.

Things that set strong candidates apart: a track record (typically 7+ years) designing finance transformation on enterprise platform programmes; experience across more than one ERP or finance platform; work at the seams, where finance integrates with the systems and processes around it; leading a technology selection and the business case behind it through to a decision; depth in enterprise structure and chart-of-accounts design; designing AI-enabled ways of working into a finance process on a live programme; shaping new work with a client; an awareness of how controls, intercompany or tax shape a design; and a professional finance or accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent industry experience).

About Finance RP

Within Accenture, the Finance Reinvention Partner helps clients improve financial performance around the CFO agenda — driving best-in-class performance, and sharper insight and benchmarking across the enterprise. In the UK and Ireland, our Finance RP practice brings together finance strategy and the platforms it runs on, including SAP, Oracle, Workday and EPM.

You'd join our Platforms transformation offering within the practice: a growing team working at the design and advisory end of platform transformation, helping clients choose the right platform and design the process, enterprise structure and operating model around it, rather than building the customisations and enhancements that sit underneath it. We're a close team that enjoys the work and each other's company, and we keep looking for better ways to do it instead of repeating what worked last time. We mix platform, process, data, AI and advisory backgrounds on the same team on purpose, because that mix reaches better answers than any one background alone.
