Python & Java Engineer

Role overview

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer with strong expertise in Python and Java to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-quality software applications and backend services. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical and problem-solving skills, take ownership of complex engineering challenges, and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

This role requires a strong focus on software quality, security, performance, and maintainability, along with the ability to apply sound engineering practices to deliver reliable solutions that meet evolving business and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

·       Design, develop, test, and maintain Java and Python based applications and services.

·       Translate business and technical requirements into scalable software solutions.

·       Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend integrations.

·       Participate in architecture and design discussions.

·       Perform code reviews and promote engineering best practices.

·       Troubleshoot complex technical issues and support root-cause analysis.

·       Write unit, integration, and automated tests.

·       Improve application performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.

·       Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams.

·       Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

·       Contribute to technical documentation and continuous process improvement.

Essential Skills and Experience

·       Strong hands-on experience in Python, including Django and Django REST Framework (DRF).

·       Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.

·       Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services.

·       Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.

·       Experience with ORM frameworks such as Django ORM, JPA, and Hibernate.

·       Good understanding of OOP, design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean coding practices.

·       Experience with unit and integration testing using pytest, JUnit, Mockito, or equivalent frameworks.

·       Knowledge of application security, authentication, and authorization.

·       Experience with Git, code reviews, debugging, static code analysis, Agile, and SDLC practices.

·       Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills, with the ability to independently own and deliver technical solutions.

Good to Have Skills

·       Experience with microservices and distributed systems.

·       Experience with Django REST Framework (DRF) and scalable Python backend development.

·       Familiarity with Celery, Redis, and asynchronous/background processing in Python applications.

·       Experience with Python testing, code quality, type checking, and dependency management tools.

·       Knowledge of Spring Security, Spring Cloud, or reactive programming.

·       Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.

·       Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.

·       Knowledge of monitoring, observability, performance tuning, and scalability.

·       Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger or GraphQL.

·       Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, and frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.js.

·       Familiarity with responsive design, accessibility, web performance, and UI automation using Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium.

·       Experience working in regulated or quality-focused environments.

·       Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives.

Education and Experience

·       Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

·       Staff Engineer  : Typically 12+ years of relevant software development experience, depending on internal Band 7 expectations.

·       Engineer III : Typically 6+ years of relevant software development experience, depending on internal Band 7 expectations.
