Role Summary
The Pricing & Billing Resource Center (PBRC) team develops and operates business-critical, API-driven platforms built on Java and Spring technologies. These platforms power highly scalable and reliable billing and pricing services across Mastercard.

Quality engineering is central to ensuring functional correctness, API integrity, UI reliability, and performance at scale.

This role is an automation-first Senior SDET position, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust automated test frameworks across API, UI, and performance layers. You will work closely with engineering teams to embed quality throughout the SDLC, ensuring speed, stability, and confidence in every release.

Key Responsibilities
1. Automation Ownership (API & UI)
• Design and maintain scalable, maintainable test automation frameworks using:
o Java + Selenium (UI automation)
o REST Assured (API automation)
o Cucumber (BDD) for executable specifications
o Cypress for modern UI testing where applicable
• Ensure automation suites are reliable, efficient, and aligned with engineering standards

2. API Quality Engineering
• Validate REST APIs built on Spring / Spring Boot for:
o Functional correctness
o Contract/schema adherence
o Error handling and edge cases
• Utilize Postman and Insomnia for exploratory testing and debugging, converting findings into automated coverage

3. Performance & Non-Functional Testing
• Design and execute performance, load, and stress tests using tools such as JMeter and BlazeMeter
• Define and track performance baselines across:
o Throughput
o Latency
o Resource utilization
• Partner with engineering teams to diagnose bottlenecks and optimize performance

4. CI/CD Integration
• Integrate automation suites into CI/CD pipelines to provide rapid feedback and enforce quality gates
• Enable parallel execution and efficient test runs across shared environments

5. Test Strategy & Quality Leadership
• Contribute to test strategy, coverage planning, and risk assessment
• Create high-quality defect reports with clear diagnostics and reproducibility
• Lead improvements in test frameworks, processes, and engineering standards
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship across QA and delivery teams

Required Qualifications
• 6+ years of experience in automation-focused QA / SDET roles
• Strong hands-on expertise in Java-based automation frameworks
• Deep experience with:
o Selenium (UI automation)
o REST Assured (API testing)
o Cucumber (BDD frameworks)
o Cypress (modern UI automation)
• Strong understanding of Spring / Spring Boot microservices architectures
• Experience testing RESTful APIs in distributed systems environments
• Hands-on experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, BlazeMeter)
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience designing or evolving automation frameworks (beyond test case development)
• Familiarity with test design patterns (Page Object Model, abstraction layers, BDD best practices)
• Experience supporting high-scale, mission-critical systems with strict SLAs
• Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery models
• Exposure to containerized or cloud-based testing environments
• Familiarity with test management tools (e.g., Jira, ALM)
• Domain experience in billing, financial systems, payments, or card services
• Experience testing data pipelines, ETL processes, or streaming systems

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
