Sr. Software Development Engineer, Prime Video Advertising

The Prime Video Ads team owns services that integrate with ad decision systems, handle dynamic transcoding and stitching of ad creatives using client/server side ad insertion (CSAI/SSAI) across HLS/DASH/SS streaming protocols. We helped launch Thursday Night Football and CBS All Access (with ads) on Prime Video and powered the tech of IMDB TV.

Key job responsibilities
As an engineer on an innovative, AI-first team, you will have the opportunity to work on challenging problems in the low latency/high throughput domain of dynamic ad insertion for Live Sports and Video on Demand increasingly powered by AI, agentic workflows, and intelligent automation.

Our architecture processes and handles high TPS (in millions) with obsessively high reliability and low operational overhead. The systems you design and build will be in the core path of video delivery to Prime Video customers worldwide. We leverage Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies including AWS CloudFront, EC2, S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, SNS, SQS and internal AWS incubator technologies, and we build AI-powered systems and agents to automate operations and accelerate delivery.

As a Senior Engineer on this team, you will have significant opportunity to design and build AI-driven agents and automation from agentic operational tooling to AI-assisted development workflows and to shape how the team applies AI across the ad-insertion stack. You'll work with other engineers to troubleshoot operational problems and fix them, building tools and intelligent automation to reduce manual effort as and when needed.

You will be able to influence and propose your ideas for the future of the space including the AI and agentic roadmap to product management, and get them into the roadmap.

About the team
The team is chartered to design large scale systems to power the live and VoD streams with ads viewed by a massive audience daily across the globe, and you will help bring customers streaming video view experience to a new level.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
