Summary:
An experienced individual contributor who delivers well-defined features and defects within the VHAL and Car Framework with limited supervision. Works from designs produced contributes design input for their own scope, and is building toward independent component ownership.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Implementation:-
- Implement new vehicle properties against an agreed signal specification: add the property config, implement get/set handlers, wire the change-notification path, and handle unavailable/error states correctly.
- Implement mappings between raw bus signals and Android property semantics — unit conversion, scaling and offset, endianness, enumeration mapping, validity flags, timeout/staleness handling.
- Develop and maintain Android services and app-facing components in Java/Kotlin that consume VHAL properties through CarPropertyManager , including callback lifecycle and rate selection.
- Extend the reference/emulated VHAL and property-injection tooling so features can be exercised without target hardware.
- Implement supporting tooling: property dump utilities, signal simulators, log parsers, config generators.

Debug & Test:-
- Debug across the stack with logcat , dumpsys car service , dumpsys on the VHAL service, adb shell cmd car service property injection, systrace/perfetto, and CAN/SOME/IP traces.
- Write unit tests (GTest for native, JUnit/Mockito for Java/Kotlin) and contribute VTS/instrumentation tests.
- Reproduce and fix defects assigned from triage provide clear root-cause write-ups.

Collaboration:-
- Participate actively in design and code reviews give and act on review feedback.
- Raise SELinux policy changes for their features, with the senior engineer reviewing scope.
- Keep documentation current: property catalogue entries, integration notes, known limitations.


Professional & Technical Skills:
- 5+ years total, with 2+ years in Android (platform, system apps, or embedded Android) or automotive embedded C++.
- Solid Java and Kotlin able to write clean, tested framework-level code.
- Working-to-proficient C++ (11/14/17): classes, STL containers, smart pointers, basic concurrency able to work in an existing HAL codebase and extend it safely.
- Understands Android architecture: activities/services, Binder and AIDL, system services vs. apps, permissions, the difference between app-layer and platform-layer development.
- Has built and flashed an AOSP image at least once end to end comfortable with repo , Android.bp / Android.mk , lunch , make , adb , fastboot .
- Working understanding of HAL concepts: what a HAL is, how AIDL/HIDL interfaces are declared and served, and how the framework binds to them.
- Awareness of SELinux: can read denial messages, understand .te syntax, and propose a scoped rule with review.
- Basic familiarity with vehicle networks: what CAN frames and signals are, what a DBC file describes, what SOME/IP is used for.
- C++. Java, Kotlin, Rust, Python / Bash

Good to have:
- Prior exposure to CarPropertyManager , VehiclePropertyIds or the AAOS emulator.
- Scripting for tooling and CI (Python, Bash).
- Experience with Git-based code review workflows on large codebases (Gerrit).


Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 3 years of experience in Automotive Digital Cockpit Solutions.
- This position is based at our Bengaluru office.
