  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

  • Knowledge of internet, software, and media industries and the legal and regulatory environment in which they operate or equivalent

  • Experience presenting legal issues to executive leadership
  • Experience as a primary strategist on complex litigation including independently developing case theory, making high-stakes judgment calls, and driving outcomes without close supervision
  • Experience in complex domestic and international business litigation, including trial experience and counseling parties and witnesses in pre-dispute and dispute resolution or equivalent context
  • Experience handling class-action defense litigation across multiple matters, including Rule 23 class certification

Amazon's legal department is looking for a smart, experienced, creative, and highly motivated litigator to help manage Amazon's worldwide portfolio of commercial litigation disputes. You'll handle novel legal issues arising from new technologies across a broad spectrum of litigation.





Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement litigation strategy with respect to specific cases
- Select, manage, and improve the performance of outside counsel
- Advise leadership on a wide range of novel legal and business risks and opportunities
- Work with witnesses and data repositories to prepare for trial
- Coordinate with public policy and public relations teams on matters relating to litigation
- Design and implement innovative processes that enable small teams to make high-velocity decisions at scale
- Provide daily cross-functional leadership to stakeholders on legal problems involving contract, business tort, consumer protection, real estate, transportation, advertising, privacy, security, class action, and First Amendment law

A day in the life
You'll spend your days managing consumer and commercial litigation, advising internal clients on emerging legal issues, and working to build new mechanisms to minimize litigation risk.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
