The Prime team's mission is to build Bitstamp's prime brokerage for institutional clients — the platform that lets hedge funds, market makers, and professional trading firms onboard, fund, trade, borrow against, and settle positions at scale. We build the systems that move real institutional money: cross-venue settlement, credit against collateral, matched-book lending, and the bridge that brings tokenized securities to our order book — together with the client- and ops-facing surfaces that make them usable, from institutional onboarding and account configuration to reporting and the backoffice tooling our operations run on every day. These are correctness-critical systems where a wrong answer can't be cheaply undone — getting them right is the whole job.

As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will own the design and end-to-end delivery of features across that whole surface — from the Prime backend services down to the frontend and backoffice screens that expose them. You'll lead other engineers through problems of high ambiguity, set the technical bar for how we build for failure and not just the happy path, and follow a problem across the full institutional lifecycle rather than stopping at a boundary. Flexibility is the job: some weeks that's a settlement edge case in the backend, others a client onboarding flow or an ops dashboard, and you're happy owning whichever the work needs.

This role is based in our Ljubljana, Slovenia office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

What you’ll do

• Lead the design and end-to-end delivery of features across the stack — from Prime backend services (settlement, on-exchange credit, lending, tokenized securities) through to the frontend and backoffice screens clients and ops teams rely on.

• Own the client- and ops-facing journeys across the institutional lifecycle — onboarding, account configuration, reporting, and the tooling that lets operations run the business safely.

• Author detailed designs and break work into reviewable steps, making failure states, invariants, and recovery explicit before you ship — on flows where a wrong answer moves real money.

• Uplevel the team through design-focused code review and mentorship, and move fluidly between backend and frontend as the work demands rather than handing off at a boundary.

What you bring

• A track record of independently delivering complex, high-ambiguity projects with long-term impact, operating them in production and owning every line you ship.

• Strong full-stack range in production — a modern backend (we work primarily in Python/Django and Go) and a component-based frontend (we use Vue) — with the judgment to know where a given problem is best solved and a genuine willingness to own whatever the feature needs, wherever it lives in the stack.

• Hands-on experience building financial systems — user balances, ledgers, risk engines, settlement, onboarding/KYC, or payments — where correctness is non-negotiable and mistakes are expensive.

• Strong design judgment: you enumerate the failure paths, name your invariants, and can point at the constraint, test, or alert that enforces each one.

• Excellent communication: you drive alignment across teams and stakeholders, give substantive design-level review feedback, and mentor engineers to raise the bar around you.
